GTAIV-Is-Crap Posted January 18, 2009 Share Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) I'm sure, like myself, a lot of people are pissed off with the game and how it plays (or not as the case is) but I think most of all, the thing that really pissed me off, and lots of my gaming peers, was the lack of chat coming from RockStar about the problems and when the updates were/are coming. Take a look at this, its from the people that brought you the COD series of games, which is a series of games I have always played and indeed have a server with the latest one – COD World At War. Link PC 1.2 Patch Details An update telling the paying public of gamers when to expect the new patch, that they are aware of the problems and even what friggin Phase of patch development they are currently in! Respect for them for doing this, I even got this Emailed to me, as I bought their title. This is not only fantastic marketing, as that's a side issue and indeed an extra to them for just doing it, but its telling the people, giving the people who support them in the pocket real news and updates on the patches they are working on, acknowledging there are some issues and that they are putting things right. R* has my Email address, yet I have gotten nothing from them telling me about any problems with the game, nothing from them telling me when the next patch is coming out and nothing from them to tell me that they are even working on one. Right YES! the game has problems, and it does not and i dont think it ever had a chance of running on the min=spec printed on the box, but for god sake, why all the shut doors? why, if the 1% thing was an early number, taken off the bat of someone that did not really have an answer, why was this never updated or corrected? If I was the tops dogs at R*, I would be looking at my teams/departments right now and asking a few questions about the manner in which these whole series of issues have been handled. If feedback from Mr Joe paying gamer was ever important to you, which it should be for any company that wants to thrive in today's markets, then take this piece of feedback from me. Shutting the doors on the very people that made the GTA series big, because you will find that we are/were a very loyal bunch. Is thee worst thing any company, selling any product, could ever do. And I can therefore hold my hands up and say, yes, I'm angry. I was angry enough to create and use the forum name 'GTAIV-Is-Crap' and I was angry enough to go out and tell others what I felt about the game. But I would take that anger, drop the pride and tell you right now that I think the GTA series is one of the best and most intelligent series of games ever produced for the PC. I played, bought and therefore supported the series, from the time before it was even a series. And I'm angry because I feel let down by R*, as I'm sure many others do. I don't think R* is sitting up in some high-chair laughing at us paying gamers, I really do think a lot of the developers from their side give a sh*t about us, as they are most likely gamers themselves. But its a frustrating thing not knowing, from the simplest little thing of – Should I go out now and by another gaming pad @ £30 or $50 – or should I just wait and see if they patch the game soon, so the one I bought just last year, works fine with the game. It would be nice to know 'some' time-scale, even if its a guesstimate on their part for now. The guesstimate is something that could always be updated, if the time-scale was unachievable. First of all, you are discussing about COD4 or 40 in a GTA IV forum and as usual, just going ranting about the game's problems. Look at this video. The game was played and recorded in PC and i don't see any problems in that video. It was recorded by our very own Zoom. The bottomline is, get a very good PC and other hardware and the game will run fine.. Also, other companies sending you emails and other stuff is just a tricky marketing technique. When one huge company is not doing so good with the game it's just released, the other small ones will just try and take advantage of that situation. R* is a hell of a huge company.
