Pr0PheT-ZA Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 I've just been chatting to somebody with the same problem, we basically went through all our hardware etc. So anyway its no OS related but the problem/solution that worked for the guy I chatted to was that he, like myself has Logitech Setpoint installed. I've formatted, installed no logitech drivers etc... busy using vista sp1 instead of xp sp3 and no difference, the game looks a bit better with vista and dx10 but I can't finish the last mission ... I didn't know it was the last mission. only 67% complete in stats. anyway, the I had been reading about the sapcebar problem getting into the helicopter. It is really tough to do it but you have to keep hitting it mega quick and see Niko creep up a tiny bit each time, then when he's only a few successive taps climbing up the game takes over and you're on the chopper! My fingers and hands are shaking like jelly from hammering on the spacebar like having a wank. Awesome game, I loved it when Roman says 'you've won' and the credits roll..... A bit ridiculous imo. I mean at least give me a chance to get into the copter so I don't have to keep repeatedly doing the mission only to be blown to bits. skilefido Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 here's my story. for the first 5-6 times i did it, i couldn't get in to the helicopter. that was frustrating, lol. then, for the next 4 or 5 times, i did get to climb, pressing space like a maniac, but when i was in, a rocket hit the boat and the helicopter is destroyed too. i did manage too finally get in and chase dimitri but controlling it is a nightmare. dimitri escapes everytime. after trying and trying and trying i gave up. i tried to do the damn mission way too many times for my patience. it's been almost two weeks since i last played the frickin' game. that was enough for me, gta iv is history, that mission shortened my life with a year. congrats rockstar. not! I've changed the jump key, changed the keyboard with a wired one, etc. No luck at all. I've worked so hard to get to the final mission and now i cannot finish the game because of this bug. john88z Posted March 29, 2009 Share Posted March 29, 2009 finally came to this mission, after about 30 times of bull crap following, shooting, covering, shooting some more and driving im still unable to climb aboard the chopper. Unfortunately, the camera was at some weird angle and before I realised I was support to actually control the helicopter, it crashed. I so love the game but now i've kinda hate it because of this ending. Rockstar should patch this very fast. FAAAAASSSSTTTT. I want to just press SPACE once and that's it. Dammit i know the mission by the book, i even have shortcuts to go. For example, you can go through the back, by the beach, and avoid the crowd in the front, climb a ladder there and jump to the roof. There is a hole in the sealing, kill the guys that are down there and voila, first cut scene. Follow Pegorino, shoot the 2 guys from the roof and jump into the water, swim until the shore and voila, I'm on the motorcycle. You can do this in 3 4 minutes tops. From there you know the story. Like getting Rockstar Toronto, or someone else from Rockstar that posts on here, to post in this thread? I'm in the same boat as you all, so move over. I did manage to get in once using the spacebar, but by the time I got in, I lost xxxxx, (I've replayed both missions so many times I can't remember who I was after). I tried lowering my resolution from 2560x1600 to 1280x1024 and I got in, but everytime after that, at 1280x1024, I never get in. francomg Posted March 31, 2009 Share Posted March 31, 2009 I have tried probally 40 times by now to climb in the damn chopper in the game's last mission and I think there's something wrong with the game. Since I installed patch 1.0.3 the game has been running optimally without missing textures and memory leak errors. I do rarely get CTD's, but it's rare, it doesn't bother me at all. Anyway I have been having a lot of fun playing this game until I found myself trying to climb the Jacob's chopper while chasing Perogino's boat in the Out of Comission 2 ( last mission). Please Rockstar, mods or anyone??? I have read many complaints of people with the same problem I'm having and I don't think this is a level of dificulty, it's impossible to climb the damn chopper. I have killed my self trying to type A in my wireless Xbox controller and I have also tried to hit as fast as I could the space bar using my wireless keyboard and Niko Belic can't climb the chopper, he always fall in the water. A lot of people are having the same problem and they all say its a bug, can you confim that information?? If its a bug what can I do to be able to climb the chopper, what's the misterious ritual way I have to press teh button to make Niko get into teh chopper, what's the secret?? I swear to God I have tried at least 40 times and this awesome game is becoming really boring cause I do think there's something wrong in this last mission. It feels like the game does not want me to finish it. Everytime I'm riding the bike and jump from the jetty and try to climb the chopper I start pressing the A button from my Xbox controller as fast as I can and Niko stays there for 10 seconds but doesn't get in the chopper and then a weird camera view loop starts flashing at the same speed I press the button, after that Niko falls in the water and Perogino gets away. Can someone please help me, I'm getting exausted from this mission, this chopper thing doesn't make any sense, something is wrong I can say that for sure. You probally read other people's complains about having a hard time climbing the damn chopper. If I knew that before I would have chosen the Deal instead of Revenge. I just would like to be sure if I'm encoutering a bug in this part of the game and it will be impossible to complete the mission or if there's a mosaic ritual way of typing teh damn A button or space in the keyboard to finally get in the damn chopper and kill for once Perogino??? If there are some people who finished the game why can we do the same, no? So the problem is US, not them. So i think us, the ones who can't finish the game, are kinda left aside. It's been now 10 days, I have tried at least 50 times, but I kind of lost all the interest in playing this game cause of this stupid bug. I'm not retarded , I know how to repeatdly press a godamn button, this is so f*cked up. I'm feeling like a clown. I have tried every single combination, every thing, even asked friends to try pressing the buttons faste than me, but no sucess at all. Shame on Rockstar..... I reassigned the jump button to K instead of space and asked a friend to type it together with me while I pressed really fast A button from my Xbox controller. Somehow this time worked, I don't if it's because I changed space button to K in the keyboard, or it was because me and my friend both tried this all together, keyboard and gamepad at the same time. I'm pretty sure this is a bug, it's not normal at all. I found easy to fly the chopper to the island and manage to kill Perogino and finish the game. But I only have 64% of game completed, what should I do now to get to 100%??? call friends for alternative missions, get c*nts, races, what else????? What I did was as soon as you grab the helicopter, pause the game, start recording fraps and then restart the game so you are recording while you try to climb into the helicopter. If you have the free version you can only record for 30 seconds so you can't start recording until you're actually holding onto the bottom of the helicopter. I have the full version so I can record as long as I want, but I don't see how it would be any different. I also have no idea why this works for me. I had the same issue as all of you before trying this and that wasn't my goal. I was just trying to document what it looks like when you can't climb in.
