cold fusion 33
Well, first of all, you'll need a hook/ patch to make GTA IV run with mods. I suggest Opium Addicts GTA IV hook, or Aru's Magic IV patch. These will enable GTA IV to work with mods (When properly installed). Now, next you will need a program to open GTA IV's files. I suggest something like Open IV or Spark IV. I am using Spark and it works fine for me. Now, when you have opened up Spark, you will probably recognise that it is a file explorer type program. So go to open > C: (If C: is your primary hard drive, or the hard drive IV is installed on)\programfiles\rockstargames\GrandTheftAutoIV\PC\models\cdimages\vehicles Now you will have a list of every vehicle in GTA IV (Even some ones that aren't available in game!). Now if you click on the files that are textures then you will see different things, depending on which car you chose to open. So let's say I want to edit the badge on the admiral, I would look down the list and find the Admiral, it's right at the top, because the list is alphabetical. Now I open this and I can see that there are textures for lights, badges and the interior. Now if you want to edit the badge of the Admiral, go back to the list of the car textures, click once on the Admiral's file so it goes blue and go to edit at the top of the window. Now it will re-enter the file and it looks nearly the same as before, but now at the top, you have two new options, export or import texture. You will want to either export the texture, making sure that you use the same file name as it was originally and save it to somewhere you will know where it is. Now open up that file that you exported and edit it with an image editting program. I use a program called GIMP because it's powerful, it is easy to use and, well, I can't afford PhotoShop . Now you can edit the texture in whichever way you want, and as you want to do, change it into a real life car's badge. So when you are done, save the texture as a .png image and close down the image editting program. Now re-open your GTA IV file opening program (Spark in my case) and go back to the same place you went to earlier to find the car's texture files. So click once on the car's file again and go to edit. Now you will want to import the texture you just made. When that is done, choose save and close. Then you will be taken back to the car files list, make sure you highlight the car's texture file and press save, otherwise nothing will be changed. So now you can exit your GTA IV file opener and run GTA IV. Important: For what I have told you, I have been using Spark IV. I haven't used any other programs and chances are, the way of doing this task on other programs will be different, so it would probably be best if you used Spark. And another thing, I have had a few problems with Magic IV, where when I changed somethings with the game, it would just crash and not run. So I used Opium Addicts GTA IV hook and that works, but just a thing, you NEED to run the hook everytime you start IV, otherwise it won't work. Also, unless you back-up your files when you edit them and your game crashes, you won't be able to get IV working again until you re-install, so I recomend simply copying and pasting your whole GTA IV folder to another place on your hard drive, so if this does screw up your IV install, then you can simply take out the textures you editted from your backup copy of IV and replace them, without having to go throught that massive re-install process . Links you might need!. Opium Addict's hook: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=379452&st=0 Spark IV: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=384933 I hope this helps you, Im sorry it's long, but I think I put in all the info you need. Good luck with the modding and report back about how it goes! CF33 Edited January 19, 2009 by cold fusion

I think cf explained it pretty well I've used openIV and sparkIV, the latter has so far been my fav choice. I do wish that it would ID files so you dont have to enter the name for every file, but for me has so far workt flawlessly I dint notice any problems ultimate when I edited one.. Hmm I think I had edited the Comet through vehicle.img. Maybe its something I misst dunno, I had placed an authentic "Porsche" badge on the Comet and "Porsche" text, Again, I dint notice any problems other than I needed to resize the badge, I dint even touch that "reflection" file, maybe it gives some effect that I simply dint notice. I dont know about all those "reflection/alphas" etc .. The only other thing I edited so far on a couple cars were lights, which came out pretty cool. I have em blackt out, light shines through.. I dunno if I have a pic of the "Porsche" badge applied..

If the reflection texture is not meet the normal texture, you won't see any different in night time, but not for day time, you can see the logo is reflected un-correctly. I can post a screenshot if you want me to. So I want to learn how to create a reflection texture or convert it from the normal one. Thanks for help.
