It's a third gta generation. Hopefully like Vice city (gtaiii version was) it will be scaled down to play faster and smoother, with only a slight need for hardware upgrade. And when they get all useless processes in game ( like picture frames that swing when doors close. and no one notices) stripped out and replaced with stills we will see them use the engine at it's full potential. San Andreas. Vice city was the most popular because it ran the smoothest. Simply because it was less realistic and cartoonish. Yeah they also talk about real locations and use the real names ( you can count on those not happening) but they talk about Vice city numerous times. and well for each version of gta, there is a gta vice city. Except for II, but that was a weird fluke game . They also reference las Venturas. and as they said " this is a whole new game so don't expect the same story" Well we will not get the same story, just same setting, but more realistic. I really want to see an older Tommy, all ruined (in spirit ) and bitter have a flashback of better days before he dies. lol I mean because of Niko, or Tommy vercetti's car lot or pizza delivery company. Or ok since I am overboard already . Niko dies when he encounters the Pizza king Tommy V from Tommy V's pizza A humble millionaire who shoots niko for getting to greedy in his city. Meaning that the characters from previous titles do not exist "or are dead by now." That statement is confirmed in GTA IV by the mural that pays homage to Claude, Tommy, CJ, Toni and Vic. I loved Tommy Vercetti, he was undoubtedly the greatest protagonist to ever hit this series. It's a shame they left him to Vice City and no other game. We got to see Claude again in San Andreas, why not Tommy in Liberty City Stories or something? I'd love to be able to go back to Vice City and work for/as Tommy Vercetti again. I hope the next Grand Theft Auto game has a lead somewhat like him. He was the ultimate badass. BTW where is that mural I am dying to see it, I have been so busy modding and tweaking I barely passed the first island of iv so far. 3. Past Protagonists Refrences When you go down the stairs of you first apartment you may spot some graffiti refrering to past GTA protagonist's, Claude, Tommy, Carl, and Toni. The only problem with that would be that it says Mr Niko Belic on it, meaning Niko in San An. In kind of a GTA:4.2 (San Andreas). Niko was ok, but imo, only Vic Vance has been a worse protagonist so far. That said, San An is San An, and I'd play it if Zero was the f*ckin protagonist. With what you quoted before, and the image the other guy posted. and the knowledge that san andreas stories has not been made yet. What do you think the odds are they will push out a temp game (time filler/killer) of san andreas stories as they work on vice city IV . Maybe something to tie the two dimensions or completely dismiss them from each other. Wait, one thing consistant that holds the same story no matter what LAZLOW! I like what Jacky Fiend said about working for Tommy. I could see Tommy as a Don or some big real estate developer, and he would be hitting 50 by then (if this were to be set in modern day). I try not to talk about my hopes too much since they get mixed up in the facts I spew and then used against me, so this is my disclaimer before I continue I had fantasies that if it were Niko, it was more like a weekend at bernies thing Like, after the wedding, Niko and Roman and his new bride go on the honey moon together ("come along with us - you need to get out of here for a few, come with your family coh-zin" and niko gets sort of outcasted by the two newlyweds. Niko goes to a bar, bada bing bada boom, one thing turns to the next, he's in bed with the vercetti boys (I know, they don't exist in VC 3.0 ). lol. Nah, cause what if I got the other ending?? hehe. But it was indeed vague in my last post and probably isn't clear that that's what I meant. However, he would go as a "third wheel" Jack They would talk him into it "to get away from it all" and he'd end up alienated and vulnerable to meet new people - that happen to be into crime. Roman and Mallory will be... busy... hehe. Now, I know, it's not going to happen, but if I was speaking hopes, that'd be pretty awesome if they continue niko. That way it makes more sense. Like, don't tell me they went down there to take over - they went with intentions of NOT doing crime and got sucked in, now that is immersion! So using your logic, it could also take place in Las Venturas. No, it will be Vice City, and using my logic, you'll understand Liberty City lays down the framework. It gets the basics in. And the important generics that you find in all three regions of the US. Then, Vice City brings tropical plant life like Palm trees. Vice City always will come before San Andreas for the simple fact that after you have all of those generics for LC and use them in VC plus the assets you made for those, then you use them all in San Andreas, saving a lot of time by making other games first that set a standard for the generation, and now all you need to do is a few cactus plants and stuff. See? It's all setup like this for very good reasons. It would be dumb to develop san andreas as the first game in the series for a generation, for instance, because then your development time increases to include things you will use in other places but then you just scrap the stuff you already used in San. Makes no sense, better to make the north east, add what the south has that the north east does not, then finally add all the midwest/west vegetation and architecture. By his logic, it will indeed be the same three places, just a different story. There may be other places in the middle this time too (I expect this for sure after there were no extra expansion/side games like the first generation had), but most likely, given the larger scale of development, it will just be VC and SA (other than portable games...) until V. One might ask about how GTA3 had mentions of Carcer City in it but there was never a GTA set there, and with that said does it make it imperative that another Vice City game gets made simply because Vice is mentioned on the radio. Rockstar, having the sense of humor they do, might even put stuff into the radio and other places as red herrings to keep people guessing, then do something entirely different. Remember when people were envisioning San Andreas as a mockup San Francisco - nobody was expecting a whole state with multiple cities.
