Kiabbo
Hey guys, I need to know one thing - I bought one HD3870 and 2GB RAM, DDR2 667mhz... my question is - I'll run GTA IV, at least in a good resolution, like 1280X768? I really don't need high... I'll be able to run on medium? I have one E2180 - Dual Core 2.0GHz @4.0GHz... Well I don't have enough money to buy one HD4850... so I bought the HD3870. And I just can't find one 8800GT in the shops of my city. Well, I saw a lot of videos of people playing in E2180 with one 8600GT. In my point, HD3870 it's a lot better than 8600GT, and the guy was probably playing on low... So, I'll be able to run on medium?I don't need 999 draw distance and Shadow density... maybe I'll need vehicle density - I love a lot of vehicles in the same place ( not in real life ) I never played IV before and play IV at least on medium become a dream for me. Maybe if I use the MonkeyMhz tweak, for the resolution scale thing, I'll be able to run? I'll get my card on monday. GTA_XP
Well, if you update your graphiccard, you ll be able to play it atleast on medium. Propably some settings high, but the Render Quality can be set on Highest. My rig in my sig I have updated the DX and nVidia, I get a nice playable 23-27 FPS My settings are Res: 1024x768 Texture quality: Medium Render quality: Highest View distance: 1 (I used the FarCLP 3500 tymecyc.dat found on this forum) Detail distance: 50 Vehicle density: 50 Shadow density: 0 (I ignore these dithered shadows) With your rig, you can get higher than mine. Good luck Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392838-hd3870/#findComment-1058887300 Share on other sites
shivanandrs
That 3870 is a really good card. I bet that card i capable of giving you higher fps than my 8800GT. At 4.0Ghz your processor should be sufficient to give you constant 30+ fps at my settings. From my experience, resolution does not affect fps much (+/- 3fps). High Highest (Overidden by NV control panel 8x Anisotropic setting) 30 30 100 0 This is without modifying any game files or windows settings. You might want to use the "-availablevidmem x.xx" command depending on if the amount of vram you have restricts the use of high textures. Kiabbo
Wow guys, I'm really happy with the answers... but I don't think who my HD3870 will be better than a 8800GT, no? Anyway - I think I'll not be able to run on 1280xsomething, but I still happy with the results, I think I really don't need resolutions like that, no? And GTA_XP 23-27FPS wow now I'm happy, I guess you don't have lag, right? And wow, shivanandrs, high and highest it's a really good thing! Maybe if I try the MonkeyMhz tweak > http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=384473, I'll be able to run on 1280x768 or 1280x1024 Well, but kikoo61 don't have a good gameplay with the card... why? Maybe the processor and RAM of kikoo61 aren't so good... well, I hope so I'm getting my card on monday, but I don't know when I'll get my GTA IV.Monday I'll just play San Andreas with enbseries on high settings Here in Brazil GTA IV will comes to our hands in 07/02/2009( DAY/MONTH/YEAR ), and it'll cost R$149,90.And I'm not going to pay R$149,90 in a game, so I don't know how I'm going to buy IV, 'cause all my money I spended in the HD3870, the 2GB RAM and a new power supply. Well, my question is now answered, and I thank everyone who posted here. See ya guys, have a happy life Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392838-hd3870/#findComment-1058888572 Share on other sites
mystk
That tweak just downgrades the game's graphics. No point playing a game with downgraded graphics just for a performance increase. The whole experience gets screwed up. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play IV at atleast 1280X1024 with everything maxed. Oh and if you can't buy IV, you can always 'acquire' it if you know what I mean . When I said I spend all my money on the things, I mean exactly ALL my money... no money left now. And my download speed is really slow, and I can't wait 2 days. HD3870+2GB RAM+New Power Supply= R$555,00 Expensive, huh? R$555,00 = something like U$230,00( I'm not really sure ). Well, I really don't have more questions, but if someone want to post benchmarks of HD3870, go ahead, it'll be helpfully. mystk
lol, you think that's expensive? A 8800GT costs $400 here! It used to be about $800 when it was released . Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392838-hd3870/#findComment-1058889356 Share on other sites
