I have purchased every GTA and feel pissed off that Rockstar would all of a sudden go were the money is. What do you think of the exclusive content that is The Lost And The Damned? Cutting PS3 owners out of the loop obviously loses sales but that's where the money comes in. Rockstar had the choice between Xbox 360 DLC & PS3 DLC vs. Xbox 360 DLC & $50 million. You don't need to be Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting" to figure out that math problem: Rockstar obviously thought PS3 DLC would make less than $50 million. I'm so sick and tired of all the armchair quarterbacking/backseat driving when it comes to this deal. Rockstar didn't agree to a move that pisses off a 3rd of their user base to lose money. They have lawyers and accountants and market researchers and sales figures we never see and they made this decision. Use a little common sense. Christ. Im got a ps3 and completed GTA 4 and played loads of multiplayer..fact is its a great game but while others are playing DLC ill be playing other games. GTA is a good game to come back to now and then when you wanna take out your frustrations on peds..but activities wise we been over that now and again its not that great..Replay value is not that great. If there was no multiplayer people would have returned this game or traded it in time ago. Rockstar can make DLCs all they want. But nothing they make will warrant $50 million dollars and Microsoft can feel ripped off. But at least they can say they swayed some peoples decisions in buying an Xbox 360. While playing DLCs like i said ill be on Killzone 2 and whatever else comes out this year. Seeing as theres no new GTA. We could do with another game like GTA. This is why I was pissed when sony decided to cancel two projects. Sony should have at least kept 8 days or Getaway on their books. I wont touch saints row with a barge pole after playing GTA 4. Jonny04 Posted January 17, 2009 Share Posted January 17, 2009 You also have to remember that its not about greed its about keeping in the game, $50 million is so big cash, the DLC will not cost anywhere near that to make in terms of labour, content, royalties, and everything involved in putting it together. In todays economic environment its pretty good idea they did obviously it was more stable when they agreed the deal, because remember Take Two were needing the success of GTA IV, to boost their funds again, and $50 million will certainly help. Sure its not gonna touch the $500 million in week 1 sales, but it is half of the $100 M required to make the original game, and remember it will probably be a price to download, not free. SO all in all they did what is right to keep themselves in the market, and to be able to bring alot of joy(hopefully) to GTA fans with 360. And who would refuse to bring out more of their games, why should they say oh yeah lets not bother bringing more GTA out to the market, a game that we love to make, a game that we are proud of, just for a small percentage of fans, about 40% of GTA IV owners, the other 60% being on xbox 360. And the figures are probably higher than 60%, but the last time I read the sales that was what they were. Xbox 360 is basically a 2.5 to 1 versus the Ps3, I mean look at the COD4 stats, 10 million unique connected users (ie Gold payed accounts) versus 4 million PS3 names, and because its free its probably less than 4 million seen as people will just make new accounts. OH and don't bother saying you Xbox 360 fanboy because I know I am a player of the said console so I am a little biased to it, just like I like to use my PS3 as a Blu-ray player because thats what it is. AND PS3 had a November sales increase of 3% in Europe, Xbox 360 has a 134% sales increase...the consumer has spoken and so has Game Informer who has 2 articles in this months magazine about the decline of the PS3. So everyone who bought the original "Grand Theft Auto" should get every subsequent GTA game for free? We all paid our $60 for the core GTA game initially whether we have Xbox 360 or PS3. They're making new content available and it's not unreasonable for them to charge for it. It's not like they're sending armed guards around to charge you to pay for something you already paid for. If you don't want the new content don't pay for it. Let me guess: $20 will wipe out an entire month's worth of the allowance your mom gives you. Christ, the stupidity on this board is overwhelming.
