K^2
Decision not to have planes goes into the same bin of idiotic decisions as having your cousin and co. call you every 5 minutes so that you have to go do something you don't want to do instead of doing a mission that you do want to do. It might sound like a good idea in early development, but if you really think about it... Well the same thing can be said for the flying school crap in SA. I didn't want to do it, but I had no other choice as it was part of the story. I don't think flying school should have been part of the story, though. The way it should have been done is either by letting you jump straight into actual flying missions or by having a single check ride mission before that. Check ride mission, if used, should have come as a separate mission right before N.O.E., instead of being part of flight school, and simply required you to take off, fly through a few markers, and land without being timed. The flying school should have been there to help you if you had problems with flying missions, not be forced on you. Even more optimal, perhaps, would have been to have two separate flight schools. Unlike driving, motorcycling, and boating, where most people already have basic skill set by the time they get to it, flying is one of these things where it would make sense to have a very basic, completely optional, intro school first, with a more advanced aerobatic school later in the game. Personally, I didn't mind simply because it took me 10 minutes to go through the whole thing, but I can see how parts of it could have been frustrating for people who did not spend as much time on various flight sims. I talked to a guy who couldn't get gold on one of the missions simply because he didn't realize he needed to retract landing gear. GTASIX
I think it should only take one gunshot to make a ped drop to the floor. Along with that, you are limited with ammunition, to make guns feel very powerful to you.

BigAmericanTitties
1. meh. some guy posted an idea for a crime system where u can flee the scene after a crime. i liek dat one better than this. and for cars, well it just takes the fun out of stealing cars. the game IS called grand theft auto. 2. u can get a star for firing a gun? running red lights? SPEEDING? im not gonna continue, but hte rest of ur star system is ok 3. good ideas, but getting a star for carrying a gun is a bit over the top 4. great, i loved safehouses and places like that
QwertyAAA
Realism? Bah. A mission where you have to steal a Davy Crockett bazooka FTW.
dkznr3
I could rant about how all the realism f*cked IV up for days but I'm just going to focus on one small thing. I really f*cking hate how slow they made Niko. It is impossible to fluidly go from one action to another and it's really annoying. Even making it so Niko has to actually put the current weapon away slowly before slowly pulling out the other one is stupid. Yeah, that's more "real" but the gun is still coming out of thin air. Switching weapons when you're low on health in the middle of a mission with 10 guys shooting at you is instant death. And what makes it even more f*cked up is that your multiplayer character doesn't have to put their gun away first and can pull one out at the same speed as Claude/Tommy/CJ. What was the point in that?
Kenster1025
They should have a cut scene or interactive scene in the next GTA IV, showing the main character being hauled away in the back of an ambulance on a stretcher, riding along with vital statistics, it would make a good mini game to keep your character alive in the ambulance. They should do the same with being arrested except having a mini game where you bribe, or escape from the cop cruiser handcuffed and you must break free of the cuffs some how. That would be awesome. They should also allow for more peds on subways and buses.
Kenster1025
I think the game GTA IV is offcourse great but more realism won't hurt...1.So someone already said a better car crime system or any crime system. Basicly you do a crime and get out of the circle doesn't mean that the police won't stop looking, but you could stop them seeing you with ditching the car, changing clothes or whatever just staying low. If you steal a car and escape you could like drive it for a while, let say 24 hours until the paperwork is done and the car is hot or something you could stop them looking for it by arking in your home or paint and spray. 2.Better wanted star system Tickets(that cost money)-running red lights, ramming vehicles in front of police speeding 1 star-assaulting and officer(no gun or anything),grand theft auto,DUI,reckless driving, shots fired(no causalties),ramming a police vehicle, avoiding pay tolls, illegal posession of drugs and firearm... 2 stars-assault on a civilian(deadly weapons),ressisting arrest... 3 stars-assault on an officer with a firearm, repeated ramming of police vehicle and more than 10 or some number of civillian victims. 4 stars-more victims 5 stars-a big number of victims and damage 3.so something that was in Mafia and not in GTA that cops respond to firearms in your hand and the option to conceal a weapon so you won't get 1 star. scene bribe you can offer an officer to let you go depending on an random algoritm of cops will to be bribed and the number of stars. the option to turn yourself by hitting a buuton becuz cops will shoot you no matter what if you have 2 stars i GTA 4,so you can turn yourself in rather then getting killed. 3.The option to buy real estate and bussines like in the Empire Bilding thread. And to make the Police stations enterable again and some random caffes and houses so you can also be charged for breaking and entering or you can rob some banks and stores and get charged for armed robbery. I have more ideas but I'm tired now so what do you think of these? That is just way to boring, and makes the game more of a chore, but I do wish in the next GTA that there is more random civilian drivers getting into police chases, and the fire fighters respond much better. Oh yeah, and paramedics can actually drive and not rush into walls with the ambulance.

Sounds cool 2. What the f*ck ? You got a star for firing a gun as long as GTA has been around bud, not sure where you've been, but if you go out and fire a gun it's not going to end lightly. 3. Agreed, for CARRYING ONE. For yanking out an M4 in the middle of the street , I think constitutes a star. 4. Yeah, purchaseable safehouses need to return. Dwayne
I reckon realism wuld be better... GTA 4 I reckon was by far the most realistic GTA game... Some people said that you can't get tanks or planes or watever from san andreas... The point is that in SA you were more likely too a tank out in the desert than in new york streets.... as for the plane thing there needs to be more than one airport so you can actually fly somewhere???lol I really liked liberty city (new york), the next GTA shuld be realistic as possible...but since everyone wants a tank R* should put a military base maybe??? or the map kinda SA and liberty city; it'll make the game just as fun and realistic. For the wanted system, the GTA 4 one was the most realistic by far....cops will lose you if you hop in to anotha car...cops will know if they saw you just drive into a pay n spray...so you keep the wanted system like GTA 4...and the actual character pullin out a gun should be the same....it would be really hard to make that realistic, and so will the health bar!it would be really hard to make it realistic. as for the peds drvin walkin talkin watever.. I liked the GTA 4 ones once again. You never (well, almost) see 2 of the exact same lookin peds walk past each other...they should all be different. K^2
The argument on more than one airport is extremely limited. Saits Row 2 had only one airport, and it had planes that took quite a distance to take off with. The takeoff roll wasn't entirely to scale, but compared to SA, where Dodo could be landed and taken off from top of Bank of America building, it was fairly realistic. And while the lack of second airport took away some of the purpose of flight, there was still a lot you could do with it. Personally, I've used planes to travel to the prison and power plant islands, managing to both land and take off safely. There are plenty of other spots around the city that could be used to land and takeoff from. Similar thing could have been easily done in IV. I could easily land a plane with reasonable roll at the happiness island and many locations on the main islands. Yes, having a second airport, even if it was a small air strip, would have been better. But even without it, planes can be fairly useful. zeppelincheetah
Why oh why do people still insist of a real life simulater? What's in the future games then? Maybe; Some cars are manual some are Automatic - you can't tell untill you get in? A clutch button for changing gear? Full days? Protagonist needs to sh*t? - Starts losing health until he finds a safe house or a cluckin bell? If it's raining or (if they ever do it) snowing, he get's a cold? Take your car into a pay and spray, and leave it for about a week? Realism is hurting it. Planes were fun to fly and crash, so were jetpacks, far out storylines of infiltrating area 51 type millitary bases, and so many other things removed from san an. i think a few of those things would be kind of cool. not full days or needing to use the restroom, but having some cars with manual transmission would be interesting. there's been many arcade racing games that have the choice of manual transmission. but in this game you'd be able to tell which ones have it before you get in - like for example the player would know that turismos are manual but sentinels are not. maybe some older cars would be manual only too. they wouldn't have to make the driving very difficult - arcade racers (Rush comes to mind) made it really easy to shift gears. the other thing i thought might be a good idea is getting cold. it wouldn't affect your health or anything like that but it would be a cool affect to see your character sneeze or shiver. hell, the legend of zelda: ocarina of time had this in one place in the game - a freezing cave. the character would sneeze automatically due to the cold. i think they should bring back tanks and planes though. and rampage missions too. i think the realism in this game went a bit too far in that respect, we lost a lot of game play that we'd had in every single gta until now (tanks, flamethrowers and rampages[aka kill frenzies] were in every gta until GTA IV)
NMDanny
some more realism like new crime system be good, but remember Gameplay/Fun is more important then realism but no need to turn gta into the sims/need for speed or something like that, there is no need for actions like sh**ting, eating, etc or vehicle junk like manual/auto, fuel etc. maybe these just as optional in settings for realism lover, but not as requirements. fun and realism will be good. not too much realism and too much fun/unrealism. also this depends to storyline, niko isn't going to infiltrate area 51 or something like that, and also he lives in new york/liberty city.
