spcboarder
Hey guys, i have seen GTA IV on ebay for 15 € + 6 € shipment. Description says: English Language No Regional Codes My Questions: Has anyone experience with it? Does it work (in Western Europe --> are there Country Limitations)? Is it a bargain or a pitfall? Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.at/Grand-Theft-Auto-4-IV-S...p3286.m63.l1177 Greez, Willi Edited January 17, 2009 by spcboarder Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/ Share on other sites
copperwire93
Maybe it's from Warez group. Better buy the original one dude Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/#findComment-1058886137 Share on other sites
mystk
Don't listen to copperwire. The game is 100% original, its just selling at a much lower price than elsewhere to attract customers from India. Its selling for 499 INR AFAIK. Its a good deal and is a 100% genuine game. So go for it . Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/#findComment-1058886235 Share on other sites

Girish
Don't buy the Indian version. It won't work. I just checked my copy and it is clearly written on it that the game cannot be authenticated on computers outside of India. quadomatic
I'm not so sure. I ordered Burnout Paradise from a seller in India since it was super cheap. I'm still waiting on it, and I asked that he send the product key so I can just unlock the full version from the trial, instead of waiting 2 weeks for shipping. That person also sells GTA IV to people in the USA, and has very good feedback, probably from many buyers outside of India. They say that the games are region free and playable anywhere. I don't think the seller would have such good feedback were that not true. The packaging says it can't be used outside of India because they don't want you to use it outside of India...that doesn't mean you can't. MP5
I might want to be wary of regional lockouts. From what I understand, the Indian edition may only be usable within Asia and not anywhere else because they use NTSC-J encoding, which is exclusive to the Asian region. Only PAL(/E) encoded games may be used in Europe. North America uses NTSC U/C. But I could be wrong; regional lockouts are far difficult to enforce for PC games due to varying hardware and software. The same goes for games they have never used PAL or NTSC on the PC. I think you are getting confused with consoles here. Technically there is no reason why you can't buy a PC game from India and have it working just fine on a PC in the UK. However as girishb points out the authentication is regional locked and they will be able to tell what region you are from via your IP address (unless you used some sort of Indian proxy). jaimebombas
bought mine here: http://www.cdwow.ie/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-DV...ct/view/3791593 On the dvd case says "not to sale outside asia", which clearly means it's not the european/US version Apart from the freezing problems (that as nothing to do with regional coding) i can run the game perfectly well. Cheers! Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/#findComment-1058976291 Share on other sites
nvr2fst
Just buy it and find out. Nobody here could definatively tell you if it is a good copy or not. Anybody that says otherwise is full of it. Why dont you just go and buy it like most of us at a legitimate store. The game isnt that damn expensive anyways. If you dont have enough money...get another paper route or something. Sheesh. Apart from the 'Only for sale in India' on front of the box, I have a 'Software cannot be authenticated on computers outside of India' on the back of the box. copperwire93
"not to sale outside asia" means it works on entire Asia but 'Software cannot be authenticated on computers outside of India' won't work even though you live in Asia, it for India only Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/#findComment-1058978559 Share on other sites

the hubster
The indian version is region locked thru Securom, so you will have to use the Razor1911 loader with it. (still patches and MP still works if you have valid CD Key) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/392752-purchasing-from-india/#findComment-1058979450 Share on other sites
