GTA:SA is crap

Seeing as there is MANY and i mean MAAANNNYYY a SA lover who constantly bitches and moans about the lack of pointless crap like a jetpack or flying planes or no car customisation or other stuff in GTAIV that they believe is paramount to the GTA games, which is some of the most pointless arguments ever heard on this forum... i thought i'd write down some of my irritations with GTA:SA.

 

Lack of a storyline: Pointless storyline about some ghetto gangster to fulfill every 13 year old rap lovers dream that went from that to being blackmailed by police, target of a government agent, ally of the triads, breaking into a military base to steal a jetpack, stealing alien excrement???, being part owner of a casino, being a rappers manager (see rap lovers dream) taking over the world and being a whiny bitch the whole way through. This storyline was some of the worst writing ive ever seen in a game, it doesnt make any sense whatsoever and wasnt anywhere close as engaging as GTAIV's storyline was... if Sweet had been shot in the face in the last mission... i wouldnt have batted an eyelash.

 

Pointless Features: Car customisation, gang control, parachuting, tanks, jetpacks, street racer mods, endless property buying, driving schools, weight gain and loss, stats, cycling, air force jets and having to eat food constantly???. None of this ever did it for me in GTA, in the 1st 3d GTA game we had ONE of those things and thats a tank, and GTAIII was one of the if not the best GTA game ever, people dont seem to understand that just because a game doesn't let you jump of a building it doesnt mean to say that its a bad game.

 

Shoddy Graphics: Even for 2004 GTA:SA had bad graphics and i mean really... half the colours were either brown or gray slow loading, dark and dirty textures, and it just didnt seem realistic even for then... Half Life 2 came out that year and despite being in a different catagory of game, the graphics could have easily been done better.

 

Car Handling: Arcadish... incredibly unrealistic, no way to drift and no feeling of accomplishment in a good traffic dodging session.

 

Vehicles: All either old looking or incredibly box styled and no real challenge in driving with... GTAIV did vehicles justice better than any GTA game... and even gave you the option to change back to your arcadish easy style.

 

Fanboys: My last but most certainly not least issue... the amount of rap lovers and pathetic fanboys of this one game has created is staggering. The lack of any feature from this game in GTAIV created so much bile it couldve filled a damn swimming pool, such anger and irritation about the lack of crap features over a detailed storyline and immersive worlds was pointlessly aimed and still is at the GTA forum.

 

While you could argue im just fighting flaming with more flaming, ill just agree with you... if constant amounts of GTASA lovers will flame the IV forums then I will flame your forum back. I will belittle the game you love dearly like you did to GTAIV to give you a taste of the crap you put us through in the IV forum. I will not respond again in this thread because i want to see the anger and irritation thrown at me.

Fighting flaming with flaming? Looks like you don't intend on staying here for a long time then with that attitude. And all those SA fanboys you're talking about, I bet I've not seen even one of them posting in here. If it is indeed someone from over here flaming in the IVums, point me to their direction because I won't tolerate any kind of fanboyish flame wars.

 

Now, coming back to the points that you presented. Since I don't do flaming, I'll try to answer them calmly.

 

Lack of storyline:

You seem to be targeting just the 'rap' part of it. Was the game entirely about 'rap lovers'? Sure, the storyline isn't as believable as IV but it's a game meant for fun. What did you expect? IV is more about revenge and making friends that bond with you forever. Will the IV theme work in SA? No. Vice versa, will the SA theme work in IV? Again, no. Why? Different games have different approaches to the storyline you know. IV missions got repetitive after a point and had the same fundamental elements, be it shooting or drive-bys whereas SA compromised on the reality and expanded on the fun part, thus, giving it a more replay value than IV. But I still do play IV because of its stunning graphics. My point is, every GTA game has had its share of good points that keep you hooked onto the game. SA has a slight edge over IV just because of its replay value.

 

Pointless Features:

I agree with you to a certain extent over here. Some of the features were pointless. But again, it's a game. Besides, with some of the features, you can have endless amount of fun with them. So, not all of them are pointless. Apart from this fact, how much you like a certain feature depends on your interest. Different gamers have different interests and opinions. The game just gave you an opportunity to experiment. Nothing wring with that.

 

Shoddy Graphics:

Frankly speaking, when I played the game for the first time 3 years back, I was very happy with what I got. Looking at IV certainly makes you feel hollow when you come back to SA but I don't think the SA graphics were that bad. They were quite upto the standard. R* concentrated more on the huge map and the features than the graphics. But then too, I'm not going to take anything away from what R* gave us.

 

Car Handling:

Of course, it isn't as realistic as IV. Why? Because it isn't IV, it's SA. Try imagining you driving a IV vehicle in SA. The feel won't be the same. As I said before, different outlooks demand different settings. And I don't give a damn about drifting. If I had to drift, I'd play NFS. Again, it depends on your interest. And I believe many people have drifted by customizing the handling.

 

Vehicles:

Wait, are you actually comparing IV with SA here? You can't be serious. The game was released 5 years back ffs. By that standard, the vehicles are far better. Ever played Saints Row or Driver? Not to mention, SA had a wide array of vehicles to choose from.

 

Fanboys:

There are no fanboys over here, only GTA fans. The above opinions were from a GTA fan who owns and has played most of the GTAs till now and I'm not complaining and it is not fanboyism when I say I like SA more than any other GTA game. That doesn't take away the fact that the other GTA games are equally good too. It's just a matter of personal choice; accept it.

 

Btw, I reserve the right to lock this topic. But I'm going to keep it open just to prove to you that the answer to flaming isn't flaming. There are sensible people in here who'll give you sensible replies to your so called flaming and that's what I want to prove to you.

There's a reason SA's graphics aren't advanced like Half Life 2. Because of the environment. The map is just to huge and it would constantly load on every 20 meters, like Half Life does. And it still stops a little to load on ps2. And to stop your arguments about half life map sizes; those maps were very long, but not very wide, because you just need to go forward and nowhere else to progress, where in SA you can go anywhere.

Rachinator is a dick. SA was the perfect GTA game IMO until IV came out. The storyline was good. CJ went thru all that crap(being Toreno's bitch, befriending a blind Chinese gangster) in order to earn Sweet's freedom. That is good enough for me. Be contented with what you have.

Your point being? None of the "SA fanboys" bashing IV are around here at all, so none of them will actually read it. If the game is so bad for you, why do you have an avatar of a character who is from this game? Wow. I don't like IV that much and that's mainly because of the realism, it gets annoying after a while. I am a rap lover, and I loved SA's storyline, so what is your problem? At least you do more than just focus on the same thing all the time and the storyline has more variety than just doing favors for random 'bosses' throughout the game for a bit of money.

 

Features? If you don't like it then don't bother using them, you're just trying to piss off the fans, which you fail to. All of these features gave the game more replay value and fun.

Graphics? If that matters to you then GTA4 is the only good GTA because all the other games have "shoddy graphics". GTA3 had bad graphics too, do you think the game sucks for that? I prefer the unrealistic driving from the previous games to IV's awfully, heavy weight handling any day.

 

Vehicles: I prefer the old style vehicle looks from the GTA3 era any day. IV had more detailed vehicles but that's obvious since the game came for a new generation of gaming.

 

Fanboys, rap lovers? Do you have something against me? I'm one and proud of it. That's the worst excuse ever, honestly. And all of them at the IV forums only come to piss off lifeless douche bags like you and leave happy when they get banned and laugh at how you all get angry over it.
