Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Recommended Posts

http://www.callofjuarezgame.com/coj2/index.php

Developed by: Techland/Ubisoft

Platforms: PS3/PC/X360

Description: According to the site, 'In this prequel to CoJ, the McCall brothers again find themselves caught up in the lawlessness of the Wild West. As the brothers battle enemies from Civil War-era Georgian to the Aztec ruins of Mexico, greed, lust, and revenge begin to tear them apart. But only together they will survive the fiercest fights imaginable.' Basically, no description at all, eh?

Some background: OK, the original Call of Juarez is an FPS, first released on September the 15th, 2006. Prior to its release, it was, for the lack of a better term, ignored by practically everybody and brushed off by most major critics. That was to be expected - Call of Juarez is a Western FPS made by a Polish studio. Nevertheless, the game was released to quite good reviews, the scores ranging from - approximately - 70 to 80%.

The plot of the game is quite convoluted, however, the desc can be found here.

Thoughts about the prequel:

-One of the characters will be a younger Ray McCall, as in 'that f*cking berserk pastor guy from the first game with the ability to quote the Bible in the middle of a gunfight'. One may expect something like that in this game. Probably.

-Ray is wearing the same armour he was wearing in CoJ - and, it seems, using the same pistols.

-Techland will be developing the game, however, there probably will be some contributions from Ubi.

-One of the platforms is PS3. Expect better graphics.

-There is support for Xbox Live. Achievements? LAN play? Net play? Deathmatch? Who knows?

What are your thoughts on this?

I love western themed games. I liked CoJ 1. It was one of the first games that supported Dx10 if I remember correctly.

But I'd rather have GUN 2. Maybe one day...

The newer gameplay videos look like this game is shaping up pretty nicely, I'm glad they gave rifles iron sights in this one too, was my biggest problem with the first one.

I just watched a gamespot preview. Good words for all of it except the ending level music but other than that it looks amazing. I just want to know if it has co-op or not.

Also a big OWN is that i Preordered it from play.com, and im gunna be getting a bullet shaped bottle opener. biggrin.gif

I seriously jizzed when I saw that, I bought it on the spot.

I think I played the demo for the first game. I really enjoyed it. The presentation was exciting, and walking around quoting from the bible while shooting people gave me a Sam Jackson feeling. But I never played the full game.

G MONEY $$$

I think I was one of the few people who actually liked the first game quite a bit. This sequel is lookin' very good.

Got it today, played through the first part of Act 1 (the civil war bit) - gameplay handles well, pretty much same as the first one, gfx are really good and smooth.

Seems good. I like.

This sh*t is OWN.

The cover system is pretty awesome. Killing chickens with dynamite owns.

I just dont see why they didnt put co-op in this, then I could actually make others get it.

Oh well it f*cking rules I dont care what anyone says.

Plus the bullet bottle opener keyring I got is awesome too.

Looked at this earlier today. Must say it looks pretty decent, although with my money tied up in other things right now is there a demo on Xbox Live?

The game requires a lot of processor or video card, or it's normal, like the previous one?

The PC version of this game is a joke, I wanted so much for it not to be but I can't hide from the fact anymore. It is a step back from the first game, with aim assist on Ray dual weilding, and on Thomas' knives it is a straight auto aim lock on when you get close. The graphics are not really any solid step up either, the animations are a bit better though. There are crosshairs on iron sights also for some reason and they oversimplified concentration mode so you don't even need to try anymore.

Also none of the smoke and particle effects can touch the first game, the smoke just disperses in and instant instead of the plumes of smoke hovering around, moving a bit as if the wind is affecting it.

Its really a shame, I wish there was a PC demo so I would have found this out without dropping 50 bucks.

Has anyone had any skipping or pausing of the disc in the drive on the 360? I mean I only watched the opening cutscene and the dvd drive really made some loud noises with some slight freezing. I hope its just the game and not a sign that my dvd drive is on the way out.

Edit - Played through Act one and just going to meet with some guy after I've had my first 'freetime' mode and got myself some better guns. I have to say I really like the game so far, the only annoying part is that sometimes its hard as f*ck to see enemies when they blend into the desert background. Also one thing that's pissed me off no end is the dual parts. Like I've come to realise it will always end like that, and I swear to god some of them are just made to annoy you.

Indeed, is a fantastic game. inlove.gif

The Landscapes are impressive.

You have a little Open-world and that's great.

Textures have realy good quality.

Many, many good things you can say about this game only from the pictures.

Horses and chickens is all that I've seen so far. Its a good game to tied you over. Then again this is the second day I've had it and I'm nearly done. But that's from playing non stop yesterday. Edit - Motherf*cking level. I need some help. After you just get the achievement for cheating in that boat race with the Indians where the f*cking hell is that third Indian just before you go really fast before a waterfall I think it is. I get the 1'st and 2'nd guys that are on the left hand side on top of those 2 rocks. Now either I'm just blind or retarded but there's still someone shooting at me after those 2 are dead. And I can't just not kill the other guy because the Indian guy who's in the boat with us dies.

I've got this game today (and Street Fighter 4 for free biggrin.gif) on PC and I've been playing for 3 hours non-stop. I'm playing on hard cause I heard it's not really challenging. f*ck anyone who said that. Anyway, I just killed that marshal who's daughter Tommy f*cked. Great level, really intense with all the rain, fire and shooting. Gotta love westerns cool.gif

I finished it today. Went to play online and for f*cks sake I hate it. I can hardly see anyone on the damn map and I'll spawn and before I even get a chance to f*cking move I get killed. Made me never want to play online. Still I played it on easy and it was a challenge at times. I'll go through other difficulties and pick off some of these achievements. Great game though, didn't see the ending coming though.
