badkarm4
Well as a beloved GTA fan, (even more so now there's a real version of MTA), I was about to purchase GTA:IV via steam!! However, I've read up on the port to the PC and heard some terrible stories! To be fair the ports have always been a little sh*t (worst thing being the mouse sensitivity), but never enough to spoil the game, however, from what I've read things aren't good this time at all... For starters I hate Windows Live, with passion!! Does the Steam release need to install it? I've also heard some shocking statements on the installation with the retail PC version, does Steam bypass any of this bother? I have a decent rig, Q6600 at 3.6, P5Q-E, 4GB at 1066, 4870x2 2GB, etc, so I should be good at 1680x1050 right? Thanks for any advice...
FX2K
Everything is still needed on the steam release... Online Activation, Securom, Games for Windows, R* Social Club But you can load the game without having steam open, if thats any consolation... badkarm4
Damn, that is a shame... Although, it might be enough of a reason to buy a 360... (Sale nowadays help... )

Inky
But you can load the game without having steam open, if thats any consolation... You can? 'cause whenever I try it automatically loads steam first, then RGSC. The only really bad thing about the Steam version is the 8-10 hour download time which is why I've been holding off downloading it since my reformat a couple days ago

Actually you know what I just remembered. I bought my gta 4 off steam and it gave me my cd key to activate it. But after it finished downloading it never asked me to enter the cd key. So right now I have a gta 4 cd key that hasnt been used yet. and also you do need steam open to play gta4. You can? 'cause whenever I try it automatically loads steam first, then RGSC.
