Interlet
Hi, I just got yesterday GTA4 as a late christmas present, and I'm STILL having problems getting it to work. - PC VERSION - Here's my PC details: Sony Vaio - all in one PC (the computer bit is in the back don't know name of it. Technically it's called a laptop, but I'm not stupid enough to install GTA4 on an actual laptop) INTEL CORE 2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz MEMORY: 2.0GB 191GB HARD DISK SPACE FREE GPU = Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 OS = Windows Vista The game was PURCHASED, UK version PC DVD bla bla bla I get a RESC10 error every time it is about to start a new game. I get the loading screen with the characters on it, then I see the "Starting New Game...." and then it crashes with RESC10 and closes. I had trouble getting even that far. I researched that I needed Vista Service Pack 1, which I now have, took me 2 hours to download, left it installing overnight last night. So that's done. I also downloaded the NVIDIA driver reccomended for GTA4, I downloaded the one for 32-bit Vista, tried to install it and got this: The nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware I am at a total loss, and after some research, it looks like many people who bought the game are giving up with it. Do I have to pay for getting totally new graphics card or downloading one or what? Just need to know what should I do to play...
noVa
that is a laptop more or less, even if you do get it working you're still below minimum spec
Interlet
So I'm screwed? It's designed for a desk, not meant to be portable. This isn't it, but here's what it in essence looks like Well can you help me to get it running anyway?
noVa
Have you got all the latest drivers installed? how much* video memory do you have? Edited January 16, 2009 by noVa
Interlet
Yup, I checked on Nvidia website to see if there were any manually, and using the Nvidia control pannel told it to look for updated drivers and it said it ws up to date As for the video memory, how do I see how much I got? Interlet
ok great now i got error TEP70
partslinger
For the RESC10 error I believe you have to update Adobe Flash. But you can update Directx and .net framework as well to solve alot of problems. I don't see a tep70 error code in the list, but texp70 says update Directx. So update those three things and you should be able to play.
Interlet
sorry didnt reply yesterday ok I updated directx and now I get the TEXP70 eror even earlier than before....like as soon as it starts up now - dont even get into the menu screen
elBATCHo
that laptop is way below min specs, I dont see how youre still attempting to play it, and those laptop vid cards arent really real video cards either, its still just like most other integrated intel graphics etc.
chngdman
It's a sony vaio all-in-one. In other words, it's a sony vaioh noes! It's made for a desktop, but it is a laptop. It's made with mobile stuff, which is really really low performance for games. Your vaio, sadly, is more like: INTEL CORE 2 CPU P4 @ 3.33GHz MEMORY: 2.0GB 191GB HARD DISK SPACE FREE GPU = Nvidia 6200 (closest I would guess, would guess this way before 6800 - that was a good little card) And vista? I promise you if you switch to Xp you'll at least be a little closer (on my machine, I get 30+ FPS in GTA with minimum specs system, and with the same PC on vista I get literally like 1-5, and mine meets reqs and is a desktop, maybe, just maybe since your vid card is a 7 series chip, maybe you can get SOME gain from XP, but I don't know...) DaOrange
GTA 4 needs an up to date desktop to fully enjoy the game in my eyes. So I would say keep a hold on the game and plan to buy a new pc somewere this year.

logitechdog
you must of read the requirments when buying the game:- min is a 7900 card desktop pc, anything below this and you need to cross your fingers.... your card is very bad:- 128 bit / or 64bit memory interface, very poor speeds, and 3 different type of ram versions... gddr3 - gddr1. even if you got it to load the performance will probably be unplayable edit:- Do I have to pay for getting totally new graphics card or downloading one or what? Just need to know what should I do to play... can you put a newer one in, never had one of these type of comps with a laptop gpu in, but would it happen to be setup like a laptop one... find it funny on the download part lol you probably have to buy a hole new one.... and I would buy a desktop, that can be upgraded rather than these types...
