UrbanTheEmcee
If you're looking for this to be just another movie made for profit, or to be a Hip-Hop movie with no real depth, then you will be disappointed to find out it is a well written look into the life of the late Christopher Wallace a.k.a. Biggie Smalls. This movie shows the deeper aspects of what made Christopher Wallace the man he was. The movie opens with the death of Christopher Wallace, then flashes back to when he was a child and proceeds to tell his story. The casting of Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls was perfect. After you get over the fact that he is doing a great job for a first time actor, he dominates the role so convincing that you feel totally comfortable with watching the film, and not comparing the two.(He was born for this role) The pace of the story is perfect, and the visuals of Brooklyn, California, and New York for that matter are perfect as-well. The co-stars are also a strong point of the movie. Derek Luke takes on the role of Puff Daddy, and does a great job of getting down his energy, dance steps, and hunger as an entrepreneur. Angela Basset plays the role of Voletta Wallace(Biggies Mother) and she does a great job of capturing the tough love that biggies mother had for him. Anthony Mackie plays the role of 2-pac, and though not as convincing as his counterpart, he too does a good job at capturing Tupac's charisma and unpredictable behavior. The soundtrack is one of the strongest aspects of the movie. Since most of Biggie's songs were about his life, the soundtrack flows through the movie perfectly. Whether it was a reenactment or just background music it self, everything was presented at the perfect point in the movie. All in All, if you were a fan of his music you or Hip-Hop you should enjoy this movie. If you're not a fan, but are open to learning his story, then this too should be a good movie to watch. Chargr
I agree, it was a great movie, not disappointing. I do think they exaggerated in some parts like Biggie calling Lil Kim to apoligize before his death, 2pac confused about the shooting (the way he sounded) and the shoot em up song. Overall its a must see for the Hip Hop community.
Mz. Hazey
I am literally dying to see this. I do love Biggy and his music, although I must admit he is not one of my absolute favorite rappers. He still opened so many doors and had amazing flow and storytelling. I'm excited to see how they portray his life and for me to learn more about the man who I believe was a true genius to the hip hop game. My only concern is the portrayal of 2Pac. I am a HUUUUUUUUUUGE and I mean HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Pac fan and I will be very pissed if they portray him only as his late "THUG LIFE" post-shooting image. The man had way too much to his character than just that and so much to say. He is literally like a Jesus figure or God figure to me (not too sound weird but hip hop is my life so yeah that's how I feel). I hope he is not painted in one light, which I'm afraid he will since this movie will be biased towards Biggy. I haven't been so excited for a movie since 8 Mile. I'm looking massively forward to it. tristan
Yeah 2Pac is a great role model for any young adults out there. Did the movie highlight Biggies choice to push Cocaine over going to University?
dre91
Wait, this movie is actually already out in some countries? I don't know when it's coming out here, but I'm definitely looking forward to this. Even more now that I've heard from UrbanTheEmcee how good it really is:^:

This Woolard, does he get the voice right? Nah f that. It's THUG LIFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BIYATCH! Nah I'm just kidding. I had some weird intuition to do that. Biggie Smalls, there, lol. Good enough? And I don't agree with you GOAT is my man MR. MAKAVELI! But, I'm not going to get into that argument either especially in a Biggie thread, that'd be stupid. You will be disappointed then. The way 2pac is shown in the movie is bad. I didn't even know it was him until I saw his Thug Life Hoodie. And the things I hear coming from his mouth was mostly "WESTSIDE", "WESTSIDE MOTHEf*ckA". But there where some laughs from him.
Digïtál £vîl
You know this has to be a good gangster movie. Four people have already been been stabbed at an after party for it and one man was shot at a theater while watching it. Coincidentally, the actor who played Biggie was actually at the theater where the man was shot during the movie.

Duke Nukem
Not going to be too picky, but this definitely could've gone in the topic already made Here. Nonetheless, that was a pretty good review. I've been anticipating it since I heard about it back in November, hopefully I'll be going to see it this weekend.
