Gta 4 lan? same serial offline!

Hello! I got a problem when im playing lan (offline) ... it dosen`t work ... a friend and I istalled the game with same serial key but we have two games (one without serial!).... and then we tried creating a game but we couldnt find eachother in the lobby!... but it says that our computer are connected to echother , do we need different serials to play offline??, tried all diffrent things but it dosen`t work please someone help!!!
