Alvaerus2008
I think this option helps to reduce the shadow flickering and improves the antialiasing in some way (I don´t know why, maybe I´m just getting crazy trying to make the game to run better), but there still some issues, for example big shadows of buildings tends to show weird behaviours, like "following" the player while it moves (try for yourself, I don´t know how to explain this issue...) Those with ATI cards could test this option and see if there is some difference (I believe it doesn´t affects FPS just the quality of image) Ati Tray-->3d---> aditional options--->alternate pixel shaders (the first of three) Edited January 16, 2009 by Alvaerus2008
Alvaerus2008
No one has tested yet? Jesus, not even a single reply...at least tell me this kind of "fix" sucks big time.. Edited January 16, 2009 by Alvaerus2008

Sobek
It's Alternate Pixel Center, actually. It won't do anything for performance, but it can help in reducing artefacting on pixel / texture borders. Yes, it will make things seem a bit....fuzzy, or blurry, depending on the game. I suppose in a strange way that COULD make the shadows in GTA4 seem to blend better, but I suspect you'll start to find downfalls in other areas, possibly text. APC can royally screw some text up. See how it fares... *edit* This setting is particularly usefull if you play older sprite-based games and find that some 2d sprites have visible borders around the square box that the sprite is made up in. APC will typically fix that. Edited January 16, 2009 by Sobek
Alvaerus2008
yes, you are right is "alternate pixel centers", (hell... I need glasses). Thanks for the information, very usefull. I guess it isn´t a greatl option for performance or image quality...I can see that some shadows dissappear and other issues.
