djkoelkast
Hi there, I use the HD4850X2 from Sapphire but GTA IV is only using 1 of the 2. Yes, I do have Catalyst 8.12 and yes CrossfireX is enabled, still it doesn't use the 2nd adapter at all, see: This was after playing a few minutes. Don't care abot the fan speed as I put 2 Zalman fans on the card in stead of the two airplanes that were on the card. GPU load on the 1st one is practicly 90-100% all the time, of the 2nd it's 0% all way long. Also sometimes I get this: Full version: http://i41.tinypic.com/oamzqo.jpg When I ALT+TAB a few times t gets back to normal (but not every time). I use the retail version, so no copy or something. It's Windows XP Pro SP3 (also original) 32bit, 4GB DDR2, Q6700 Edited January 16, 2009 by djkoelkast
thales100
Hi there, I use the HD4850X2 from Sapphire but GTA IV is only using 1 of the 2. Can you play other games w/o issues , i mean using Crossfire.
damunk
Did you enable Catalyst AI in CCC? Although I don't think it matters since GTA4 doesn't even utilize SLI, even though its "A GAME FROM THE FUTURE!" ...lol EDIT: Wait a sec, from your pic I see your running crossfire? I thought you were talking about a single 4850X2? On my single 4870X2 there is no option for Crossfire and there shouldn't be since its just 1 card with 2GPUs. Yes it's the 4850X2, so 2 GPUs on 1 fysical graphics card. CrossfireX was enabled automatically. GTA IV *should* make use of both since the patch and Catalyst 8.11 and later, so I read here. damunk
Goto 3d settings in your CCC options and then you should see catalyst AI EDIT: Try disabling crossfireX... It shouldn't even be an option AFAIK, atleast not on my 4870X2.

It was on advanced, put it back to standard now as the information screen talks about "visual corruption" when using advanced. Let's have a look again... djkoelkast
It says: CrossFireX delivers exceptional performance on a single display by combining the processing power of two or more Graphics Processing Units. It doesn't talk about separate boards, just the units itself, but I'll try it this way: A.I. on, CrossfireX off.
djkoelkast
Crossfirex off: Does anybody know a game demo that supports CFX so I can try it?

Do you have version 8.12? It may be not in the previous versions? You can check this in INFORMATION CENTER > GRAPHICS SOFTWARE
damunk
Yep, im on 8.12... And from what I read on the AMD forums is that the Crossfire option shouldn't even be there... Since the crossfire bridge is internal you shouldn't have to set anything.. Just asked a friend of mine who is running on a 3870X2 and he also doesn't have this option, don't know anyone with a 4850x2 tho so I can't check for you... Can you even turn it off tho? Or is it a locked option? EDIT: Just noticed you replied to someone else. Dont worry Mouta, its supposed be like that for the reasons I mentioned above. To the guy below me, GTFO out of you have nothing usefull to contribute. AFAIK SLI also still isnt supported in GTA4 so wtf is your point anyway? Get back to masturbating to your GTX280 and stfu Edited January 16, 2009 by damunk

djkoelkast
Disabled adapter is normal in XP, it actually means: no monitor connected to 2nd 2D 'card', just google on it. But eventhough this option CFX should not be there according to you (I had to use the Sapphire driver as the ATi driver doesn't support this particular card) it does work with F.E.A.R., so there's nothing wrong with it. At the ATi bashing guy: I had the 8800GT before this and I know ATi drivers suck and AMD sucks as well, but this card was way WAAAAY better value for money compared to NVidia cards, so I bought this one. And indeed: SLi is not supported at all, CrossFire is, it just doesn't work
