win7 gta 4 install...not moving at all

im trying to install gta4 using the compat xp moode but it wont install..it does the usuall agree to this pick then destination folder bla bla bla...then when the progress bar shows up for the install. nothin. just says installshield installing then blue bar doesnt move at all..it just sits there. WTF? why does microsoft hate me so much i get my own special errors. everyone else in the world with win 7 can install this, why not me? oh yea im the kid with the funny name so life is rigged to make everything go wrong for me. any help appreciated...been ten minutes..blue bar still hasnt filled up anymore....no status(like installing movies.bik w/e).

Is Win7 the only OS you have installed? If you are dual booting you can install from the other OS (for example, from Vista) and then use that install folder. You will need a few things

1. *cough* Fed0r*cough* loader

2. on the first install disk in GTA IV there's a redistributable's folder (or the likes) and you will need to install the libraries (I can't remember the name of the file, just install them all, in my case only this one required file managed to install the others failed)

3. maybe try with compatibility options on GTAIV.exe file, but I don't remember if it's necessary

4. play

4. I forgot, you will need this also xliveless. It removes the need for xlive and RGSC BUT it also disables online.
