GTA IV PC on HP Pavilion HDX16t 1060ED

Recommended Posts

Hi, at last I got a new HP HDXT16 laptop wich is very greater than an sh*tty Intel crapcard.

I think it would be a good idea because there are questions

like does gta4 works on laptop and how it works.

So I do like to post reviews and tests.

The specs are in my sig.

How starts GTA IV?

I have Vista x64 and 9600M GT wich is an DX10 card.

I have installed the latest DX files and got no problems.

And the nVidia notebooks drivers:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

After all that, you have nothing anymore to install updates.

If you buy or get this new, all you need to updates are the nVidia and DX.

FrameNetwork 3.5 and SP1 are included.

I run LaunchGTAIV.exe and Im amazed, I expected RSC Fatal errors

or BSOD or any sh*t.

But I open niceley and immediatley I got the main menu.

I started a new game and I was excited.

But when I have to drive Roman to his "mansion"

the game starts lagging.

But got no any weird textures issues or any weird blacked issues.

Only one problem, thats the FPS.

The benchmark I forgot to save that.

But the settings are

800x600 suicidal.gif

Texture quality: Low

Render quality: high ( I tried low and got the same FPS?)

View distance: 1

Detail distance: 1

Vehicle density: 10

Shadow: 0

FPS: 10.04

I follow the MonkeyMHz Ultimate performance fix but it didnt work.

I use the commandline -avalaidvidmem 2.0 because the 9600m gt have

512 MB dedicated, up to 2033MB.

So an -availadvidmem 4.0 can be used.

But there is one question wich bites me in my ass.

Is it because my laptop or the game?

Or because Vista x64?

If anyone who konws another fixes or tips, they are welcome and I can test them smile.gif
