it seems another patch may not be around soon!!! ,these [email protected]##$$ls are already too busy working on gta 5 to be released this year !!!,seems they dont count on gtaivpc sales anymore! so we got the scraps or left overs they were just practicing for their next big hit on consoles........ using us ,so we are ginea pigs!! http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32958/Grand-Thef...y-for-Christmas this topic is all over the internet!!!google it!!,,and watch they are going to take more than a year to put the pc version out ,to give just enough time to pc gamers to forget about whAT HAPPENED TO THE PC VERSION IN 2008!! devil.gifdevil.gifdevil.gif :devil:http://www.gamedaily.com/games/grand-theft-auto-iv--the-lost-and-damned/xbox-360/game-features/grand-theft-auto-v-by-holiday-2009-rumor/http://www.pspsps.tv/2009/01/gta_successor_rumoured_to_come.htmlhttp://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=011509_3

The rumor mill is churning again -- this time about a brand new Grand Theft Auto game -- GTA V -- due in time for holiday 2009. The recent issue of Game Informer, the video game mag owned by Gamestop, says they have firm belief that the game will follow the traditional open-world, climb the crime ladder format and may take place in Tokyo.

That's not all you'll hear from the Rockstar crew this year -- the game maker is releasing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for DS on March 17 in addition to Xbox 360 downloadable content -- The Lost & Damned -- in February (February 17, according to EBGames.com).

Releasing another game so soon seem unlikely? Maybe. It took Rockstar one year to release Vice City after Grand Theft Auto III hit PS2. Then again, it took the company almost four years after San Andreas to release Grand Theft Auto IV.

It's hard to imagine Rockstar working on a completely new GTA game, when Grand Theft Auto IV seems like it'll have plenty of longevity with downloadable content, which can add new stories and new cities into the mix. Unless, that is, Sam Houser wants to make good on the "very compelling" idea of a Grand Theft Auto MMO game. We find it rather compelling ourselves.

We shot Rockstar reps an email for a comment on the rumor, asking "is Game Informer full of it?" "Yes!" they replied back. Or maybe they're just not ready to talk yet.

there is more than 1 devision of rockstar, rockstar north do the console versions and they have nothing to do with the PC version other than handing over the 40 billion lines of code they make for the console versions for the toronto lot to wade through.

I don't see ANY WERE in that article that it's been announced, it's all just rumors and speculation...much like all the articles before GTAIV was announced saying that the next city would be Japan.

to give just enough time to pc gamers to forget about whAT HAPPENED TO THE PC VERSION IN 2007!!

Wait a minute! I've been covering the GTA series for years now and there was a PC port of a GTA released in 2007?! My god I've failed!

And as noVa has said, there is more than one Rockstar Studio. There are 7 Rockstar Studios.

1. LOOK AT THE TITLES OF THE f*ckING STORIES. If it says Rumored, THAT MEANS IT'S NOT ANNOUNCED.

2. Look at everyone's source. All of them quote GameInformer as their source. That's like me saying that Fox news rumors are true facts.

3. Actually make WORKING links next time.

Gta 4 was abandoned from release, any new patches will simply fix trivial issues that honestly know one cares about much like the first patch. The best we can hope for is that poorsales in line with horrid customer feedback will actually force them into making gta 5 a pc game. You also have to think they may not release another pc title after this mess, the customer outrage on the gamespot forums alone is the biggest ive ever seen and no doubt have resulted in poor sales.

Wow it sounds like you're all running around with your heads cut off because of a "rumor" that a new GTA game is coming out. Little news or speculation on what it is or when it will be coming out - The focus instead is that this means that rockstar will abandon GTA 4 and immediately sink money into something else.

This "churning rumor mill" is created by one gaming news site making an entire article about the speculation (not based on fact) of another gaming site.

Slow day at the office?

Panic 2008... Profit 2009!

Fool -- Now's the time to invest! David and Tom Gardner's new book reveals their strategy for million dollar wealth.

* Buy Now!

When fund manager Joel Greenblatt published his investing tome, The Little Book That Beats the Market, in 2005, it marked a unique point for investors. They now held insights into easily replicated investing strategies from a value investing master. As proof, Greenblatt has achieved phenomenal results over the past two decades, besting even the performance of Warren Buffett.

His strategy is deceptively simple: Buy undervalued, high-performing companies, then hold them for a year. Wash, rinse, and repeat. But what if we can augment Greenblatt's methodology? Below, we've used a "magic formula"-like screen that approximates the pre-tax earnings and return on capital criteria he lays out, then applies those standards to companies with top ratings of four or five stars from Motley Fool CAPS.

Over the first 20 months of compiling data from collective intelligence database, we Fools found that newly minted five-star stocks offered the best opportunities for investors, while the lowest-rated companies fared the worst. Combining those rankings with the criteria that Greenblatt suggests should give us winning investments that may just produce some outsized returns.

Here are a few companies that showed up when I ran this screen recently:

Although Greenblatt's strategy is a mechanical one, we don't think you should just rely upon this as simply a list of companies to buy. Due diligence on this narrowly focused list of companies is always a smart requirement. So, let's see what CAPS members have to say about a couple of these.

A little bit of pixie dust

Few people expect we'll be able to enjoy these depressed oil prices for very long, and some investors believe Vaalco Energy will benefit from the turnaround. Using the Adriatic VI jackup rig from Transocean (NYSE: RIG), Vaalco has been digging around its Ebouri field off the coast of Africa, expanding its boundaries and reserves. It has substantially enlarged the productive acreage there, allowing it to enhance its recoverable reserves. As a result, CAPS member johnnyb39 expects resurgent oil prices to lead to even greater exploratory efforts by the oil company:

Expect oil prices to go up in 2009 and [Vaalco] to bring you profits from the need to drill oil. Oil exploration will pick up in the 2nd qtr of this year and continue out for several years.

Stealing opportunities

Downloadable content packs, or DLCs, may be a boon to Take-Two Interactive and the bane of GameStop (NYSE: GME), but analysts aren't completely convinced of their power. Expanding upon its wildly popular Grand Theft Auto franchise, Take-Two has now pinned its most recent hopes on two upcoming downloadable additions, available to Xbox 360 gamers. If the format proves successful, it may serve as a serious challenge to GameStop's bricks-and-mortar retail model.

Yet at least one analyst thinks Take-Two won't generate enough revenue from the DLCs, because not nearly enough copies of the GTA game were sold to Xbox Live subscribers to make a difference. Wedbush Morgan says Take-Two received $50 million up front for GTA IV, and needs to wait until DLC generates $35 million in sales (approximately 1.8 million copies) before it will receive any more revenue.

CAPS member dirkness isn't worried. This member sees GTA morphing into a massively multiplayer online game experience similar to World of Warcraft:

It is likely that [Take-Two Interactive] will produce at least two more best selling games on this engine (as it did with the GTA III engine) each with it's own additional DLC, before developing an MMO. However, when this next edition of GTA becomes available it will not only be another top selling game for [Take-Two Interactive], but it will be the dominate console MMO and generate a constant flow of subscription revenue.

Beat the street

You'll need to read more than a few pages of this book to make your buy or sell decisions. So start your own research on these stocks on Motley Fool CAPS, where your opinion can still save the day. While there you can read a company's financial reports, scrutinize key data and charts, and examine the comments your fellow investors have made all from a stock's CAPS page.

Beginning Jan. 12, 2009, Fool co-founder David Gardner, Jeff Fischer, and their Motley Fool Pro team will accept new subscribers to their real-money portfolio service. Motley Fool Pro is investing $1 million of the Fool's own money in long and short positions in a range of securities, including common stocks, put and call options, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Well, you're right about their share price, it's gone down steadily since September. Not a surprise, considering whats going on around the world right now.

I can't say whether they have hired new employees or not, but they seem to be keeping their current staff according to this article:

Take-Two has announced that it has signed new long-term employment contracts with senior team members at Rockstar, including Sam and Dan Houser.

The new contracts will initially run to January 31, 2012, and have also been handed to The Benz as well as "several other key members of the creative team".

Linky: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/take...-rockstar-deals

In any case, if they are hiring new coders, the market is probably flooded with cheap talent right now, again thanks to the recession.

Also here is an interesting tidbit I stumbled across: "We are initiating FY10 estimates for revenue of USD 1.55 billion, and non-GAAP EPS of USD 2.10. Our FY10 estimate presumes another instalment of Grand Theft Auto in 2010."

Linky: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/pach...o-profitability

This is of course just speculation from another news site, so it is just as valid as the articles x8681150 linked, except they probably used a calculator, not just their imagination.

Edit re. above article ^^^:

"Yet at least one analyst thinks Take-Two won't generate enough revenue from the DLCs, because not nearly enough copies of the GTA game were sold to Xbox Live subscribers to make a difference. Wedbush Morgan says Take-Two received $50 million up front for GTA IV, and needs to wait until DLC generates $35 million in sales (approximately 1.8 million copies) before it will receive any more revenue.

That's actually an interesting point. DLC's don't seem to have prolonged the lifespan of games very much thus far. Bethesda's Oblivion for example had quite a few smaller DLC's and one expansion released, but Fallout 3 came out just 2 and a half years later. I certainly don't know enough about the gaming biz to do more than guess about what will happen with GTA 4. If I was to guess, I would say that R* will release a full-fledged expansion so they can charge a "box" price, upwards of $30 and then move on to releasing a new game. At this point it's all speculation though...

GTA IV isn't for atleast 5 more years.

We still have VC and Sa to encounter.

Want clues to that? listen to the radio

When they talk westcoast stuff, they

talk sa. South east, VC. when they

talk another palce, they use the places

real name. Well onething confirmed

, Los venturas. No it willl not be the

That doesn't mean anything, it's more likely just references to the older games. Just like the Claude, CJ etc graffitis...

People seem to assume that, just because III was followed by VC and SA before going to IV, that the same thing will happen this time around. I don't see any indications to that notify.gif

They might release V as the next release, just as they might do another game or two in the present "canon"... but then again, there's nothing linking III, VC and SA together besides using the same engine.

In other words, we'll see!

Oh hey there are references to the Australia-American war, so we'll probably see a war-themed game too uh?

Doesn't mean sh*t, they're just easter eggs and references to the previous games.

There's no indication that the next game will be V just as there's no way of knowing if they'll do other games before it.

ok as fans, we play the game, we actually listen to the radio we get amazed by the buildings

we look for clues on the next version. they talked Australian American war in vice city(gtaiii version)

When they talk places that are real and will never come to gta, they use the real names, when they

talk gta places, they use gta names. Like as well let's say Florida/Miami/Ft Lauderdale they use the

Vice city names. When they talk Vegas, they say "Los Ventura" . and yeah, this would be the third time

that san andreas would come to gta, and the 3.5(th) time vc came to the game(we have to remember stories).

so yeah, each time gta has come out with a new engine, we saw all three cities.

Now about two/three years ago there was a guy named "deep throat" that popped in here and gave out mess loads of clues

he was flamed he was bashed, then we found it was all true. from the internet cafe`s and everything. except one

thing, he mentioned a south American plane ride.. unless it happens in iv, I am not that far and have avoided spoilers

so um. maybe.

What? So now you want them to start GTA 5? I thought you linked the 2 articles to call attention to the lack of support for GTA 4. Why can't you decide what you want from rockstar?

In fact now that I reread your posts in this thread and your other mammoth thread which just reappeared on page 1, (http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=386714&st=0) I'm starting to question your motives. You have spent at least an entire month (Other thread starts dec 22) bashing Rockstar and GTA 4. Why?!?! Is it seriously worth THAT much effort?

Are you being paid to do this? ph34r.gif

I don't doubt that GTA 4 was unwisely released without support for lower end computers and patching for PC users has lagged far behind the other consoles.

BUT

Reading this forum is like being transported to some bizarre alternate dimension where Rockstar's execs feast on babies and purposely code malware to make their customers miserable. Why the hate? Why the irrationality? WHY?!?!?!?111

Did you read what I posted at all?

There's no way of knowing what Rockstar will do next. None whatsoever. What you're talking about is simply inside jokes, references, etc.

"cities that will never come to gta" really? Please tell me what else you saw in that crystal ball of yours!

There is NO way of knowing what Rockstar have in plan, what they will do, how many games they'll put out with this engine, etc.
