Pixelated Posted January 17, 2009 Share Posted January 17, 2009 hey, bethesda released the second patch -a big one- for fallout 3 this week. fallout 3 came out on november. and bethesda is very respetable. GTA IV for PC came out on december? they released the first patch, now we have to wait to the second -suppose big one- patch. Let them work. this is not a sh*tty port as bully, is GTA IV. they will release a patch. but, come one, do not expect the ULTRA PATCH ULTRA PERFORMANCE. they will not write the code again, maybe a little twicks like we all can do with Magic IV and stuff. why don you go to the park? go smoke some sh*t, get a tan and plant a tree. Sadly it didn't fix any of the more serious issues like the repeated CTD from codec and other conflicts. They only released the second patch so fast because they need to prep it for the coming DLC, otherwise it wouldn't have been so soon. And the whining continues. The game runs great here as I patiently await the next patch. Most people's systems are the problems. Dell Precision 690, 16 Gigs Ram, dual Xeon 5160 3.0 Ghz processors, 64 bit vista, dual 1Gig 9800Gt's in SLI oc'd..... I can play on full, like butter. I keep the traffic density down to 20 though as I hate traffic... lol Yeah the game runs great on my 4870 i like 15-22fps cause i dont like smooth gameplay. The game looks so good also i hate FSAA i prefer a rougher look. Multiplayers a blast with rampant cheating and no deicated servers but i like it because i dont even see what my ping is its just a coloured bar. I also love the other programs i had to install to play. I also dont mind unplugging all my game controllers before i play. I was a huge fan for many years and even a bigger one when I first played GTA 4 on the xbox 360. However when my hobby includes building computers, programming, and getting all the background knowledge I can about them and others tell me I'm an idiot and don't know how to make it work for the PC, I about to say STFU, people are assuming anyone with problems is a big fat liar and a f*ck tard that has no experience with their computer hardware and software what so ever. So yes, I come back to bitch and bitch because if Rockstar gave me my money back I wouldn't be here. And if they cared a damn about their customers we wouldn't be here bitching at each other. Long-term, Rockstar won't make it. As simple as that. I have a degree in both computer science and business. It sickens me to see such sh*t. Especially since Toronto seems to be a damn idiot and a big part of why everything is the way it is. Who else can sit around and give out temporary fixes? Why not fix it. This is bullsh*t. If I knew I would be going through all this for 50 dollars I should of just took my foot and shoved it up Rockstar's ass. I have no respect for what they did. You obviously didn't read our posts. Just read the reviews by consumers for this game. It shows there is something clearly wrong. It's more like 50/50 and on other sites sometimes the reviews are so so so so bad. But one thing is clear, the game is f*cked to hell for me and a lot of other people. I think they are quiet because they have learned that 9 out of 10 of the problems are self inflicted. Just because you tried on 10 PCs doesn't mean jack sh*t if they are all administrated by the same person, right? Not saying they are, but come on. And I doubt all of them are up to the task - what are the odds that you have money for 10 PCs that are up to date enough for GTAIV? If you have that kind of money, contract a patch, dammit! lol I think they would jump to action because #1, for things to be that bad as they were, it's serious. They DO care about their customers - if even it's only because they know if they screw you, they can't screw you again. Supposing they screwed you, where is their business for the future? Exactly. The vocal few with problems have awoken a whole other group of people (i'm included) that are here standing up for a good release. I can't say it's perfect and I won't, but I have a minimum spec rig (at least my CPU is only 1.86ghz) and the game runs just fine, as intended, at 1680x1050, 30fps (as you, of all people here, already know, sorry to repeat, just making sure others who stumble in understand my point ). Sure, there may be things that need to be fixed, maybe there are even bugs I experience but just haven't noticed - but I tell you, your opinion is yours and you own it, but it is really detrimental to the truth because at one time the vocal few with problems looked like many. Then those of us having a good time finished the story and came to a online forum to discuss the game and found people complaining. Well, instead of talking about our experiences in the game, we're now trying to help others, confused at how many have issues, and generally willing to argue it out that there is a better way to handle it then to blame rockstar, because as you can see, it's now a 50/50 thing, and there are still plenty of copies sold daily and plenty of new players daily, but still only the same people complaining. 1% vocal with problems. The more people I see come on here happy about the game, new faces, new praise on the team, but still the same faces have problems. Maybe there are new people every day too and I am just being selective in what I write, but for the most part, Rockstar has done their job and they are ready for the next phases. Let's try to figure out the real problems people are having, because there are many of us that prove it is not the game. Minimum specs and it's my dream come true for the City of Liberty. I just backed it up in the mydocs, and edited only the files in mydocs. that way if someone screams about new patch being out and amazing, I can still get it.. also it allows me onliine with that shortcut :-P Good to see another person willing to fix their rig instead of lay around wallowing for months. Well, I fix computers for a living, have a college degree in MIT and have played computer games for over 15 years and I gotta say, this is the worst port I have ever seen. Did you play it before the first patch at all, you may not of considering it was so unplayable for so many people they had to patch it near immediately. I am guessing they were working on the patch as the game was going out the door. Look at some of the early polls taken, it is amazing the amount of people having problems. There is also usually, with companies that make hit after hit like Rockstar, a certain sense to "defend the powerful entity" on these boards, just as there are usually a core group trying to point out every flaw. The fact that the boards had a clear negative tilt, still do, and even the fact this thread is blowing up shows there is a REAL issue here, look closer. The fact that the boards had a clear negative tilt, still do, and even the fact this thread is blowing up shows there is a REAL issue here, look closer. yeah you can totally tell by the forums usually i get a game install have a lil bug or a glitch go to the forums and theres a sticky on how to fix it and just a few threads of helpin individuals with settings and such to get it running when theres serious issues MOST companies are quick to respond GTAIV - 2 weeks it took for a patch (that didnt help much, broke even more stuff like the joystick issue) when on the release date the game was pretty much unplayable when i booted GTAIV for the 1st time i heard the voice over of the ppl talking on the ship with a chick i think and all i saw was ocean, fog, and lights floating in the air not good head to the forums and was overwhelmed by what i saw hundreds of threads of every kind of problem you could think of, again not good i though "wow at least mine booted lol" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
