We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time." - Game Informer Issue 190 Well I guess the game wouldn't literally be named "GTA V" but it will be "GTA:" and then a subtitle. And Tokyo? Well that sounds pretty cool. Well there you go. Lets hope there's not a ton of delays like IV. Post your thoughts and opinions here about the matter. Omnia sunt Communia
I think the title pretty much sums up this thread: "Rumor: Rockstar ready to release next GTA by end of 09" The article also fails to give a name, and position for the Rockstar employee; which only adds to my doubt. Neither does it actually include a date, or even rough estimate, it just states that Rockstar are already working on the next title; which is obvious really. I fail to see how this can be "95% confirmed by Rockstar." More like "95% rumour made up by second rate gaming website." Seriously, none of these articles never come from reliable sources, so why believe them?

Omnia sunt Communia
Check out Kotaku....they say Game Informer is saying the next gta whatever it may be will be out by the holidays! Kotaku is reporting on exactly the same information; with their source being the PSU article posted above. Neither article, however, manages to provide us with any reliable sources other than what Game Informer has predicted.
Ultraussie
Not another Sub-Title game set in the past!!!! No Offense guys, but when the great games like San Adreas came out, it was 2004, yet you were playing as a Gangsta rappa in the Early 1990's. And before GTAIV came out, the most recent GTA game was GTA3, which was set in 2001 and with sh*t graphics..... BOOOOOOOORING. if it werent for subtitles we would be up to GTA9 by now! And stuff roman numerals! GTA2 was actually GTA2! Well, Im glad some bastard's gonna cry that he cant upgrade his PC and will weep because another Next Gen GTA game came out. Oh sh*t that guys me! Serioulsy, Tokyo could be fun, although some noob car modder's will F**K up because they make the cars left hand drive >

Magic_Al
It wouldn't be GTA V. It'd be a sub game for GTA like Vice City and San Andreas. They're not going to make an actual official GTA right away. I certainly wouldn't call Vice City and San Andreas "sub-games" because each is a full-length GTA experience in an all-new city and each is greater than the last. Technologically they are incremental improvements over GTA III but that's when things get good. Rockstar can focus on content and adding to the gameplay wish list. I really hope this rumor is true. If it is, it proves Rockstar is a well-oiled machine, matching the production schedule they did after GTA III despite having to do extra GTA IV DLC episodes. Omnia sunt Communia
Aren't the DLC packs being produced by a separate leg of Rockstar Games? If that's the case, then that means Rockstar North are free to concentrate on a follow-up to GTA IV. Rockstar Leeds are focusing on Chinatown Wars, so R*N don't need to worry about that. It may well just be that they've already finished the DLC, and now they're waiting for an ample enough time to pass in order to release it. I believe it was Toronto who ported the PC version though. But even so, its not like everyone at R* north was working on the DLC

fatlittlenick
I would be more than happy with it being set in Tokyo. Working as OR for the Yakuza would be fascinating. I have 2 gta covers that i mite start (rough drafts) tomorrow and eventually put up on the forums for all to see. London and Tokyo are on my mind. Guanxi
Of course they wouldn't release a full blown game at the same time as the 2nd fall 2009 DLC pack that would be retarded. There is no way they could create two massive expansion packs and a full game in time for fall 2009, you've been smoking too much, Jacob. They've probably been in pre-production since June last year, but full blown development simply could not commence untill after DLC 2. Late 2009/2010. It's just practically impossible. They would need at least a year, so late 2010 would be the very earliest. You also have to bare in mind that Rockstar North are also working on a new PS3 franchise which possibly rules out the likelihood of another gta by 2010. 2011 would be the earliest and possibly last point in the time window at which a current generation GTA game could out if another Xbox were to launch in late 2011 followed by another PlayStation in 2012 which would be 10 years after Vice City. Just throwing it out there.
