Computer freeze during initial load

Hi, I've not seen this error anywhere else... was wondering if anyone had any info on it since Rockstar were of absolutely no help.

 

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice now, and each time the result is the same.

I've tried running the game with NO services (antivirus, etc) and it still doesn't help.

 

After I push the 'start' button on the main menu, the pictures of the in game characters come up. After going through three of them, the fourth one will flicker and then the whole computer will be frozen.

No error codes, nothing.

 

This happens on both unpatched and patched versions.

 

My Spec:

 

- Intel Core 2 Extreme Q6850 (quad core) 3.2Ghz

- 4Gb of Ram (although XP can only utilise 3.2GB)

- XP SP3

- .NET 3.5 SP1

- DirectX updated to latest

- Flash updated to latest.

- GFWL updated to latest.

- Dual Nvidia 8800 Ultra 768MB (1536MB) in SLI

- Latest driver for NVIDIA cards (181.20)

- GTAIV has been patched (so now it can't use SLI)

- 100GB free on Velociraptor hard drive

 

I plainly exceed all of the requirements.

hi hunt... does the windows live screen come up? should go black with a login where you press enter 3 times to login to live or can skip it... sorry if it does as you left it out... then continues loading
