One-time Posted January 20, 2009 Share Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) Well I just found out that there's a value in visualsettings.dat which has connection with the FarClip, it's misc.Multiplier.farClipMultiplier. The default value is 2. When I set it to 1, it looks like the FarClip is reduced to 250.00 (my FarClip values in the timecyc.dat is 500.00). So basically it's an alternative, rather than replacing all FarClip values in the timecyc.dat it's easier to put a simple multiplier for it in the visualsettings.dat. There's also misc.Multiplier.nearFogMultiplier, this is the amount of the draw distance fog. Increase the number if you want to cover up the undetailed LOD buildings. Decrease the number if you want a clearer looking game. @Warlord: here you go. Looks horrible, not even the player is rendered! But I get like 15 FPS increase. Axeman420 Posted February 1, 2009 Share Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) Well, I tried these tweaks, and gained about 3fps.. So, I'm up from a low of 12fps, to a low of 15fps.. I get about 17, to 23fps on average, and have highs of 35fps(In a few places, airports, some highways, etc,.).. What helped me the most, was the farclip, I made my own version, its set at 200.00... I also used the disable shadows lua script, which didn't seem to help performance, but it does make the game look a lot better, imo, less pixelated.. But between this, and the 1.0.2.0 patch, I'm up 6fps, so its getting there... Anyways, thanks for compiling the list.. It does so by altering the timecyc.dat file, which controls the farclip... Cons === It makes flying missions really hard, at least when you set it at a low number like 200... (500 or higher, isn't too bad..) The game doesn't look as good.. Depending on how low you set it.. The gains aren't all that great, considering the sacrifice, so you need to experiment to find the best distance for looks/performance.. Pros === Less models/textures to load, so it lessens the burden on your system slightly... ---------- This is from the benchmark using farclip 200,.. Average FPS: 21.44 This is using the default farclip of like 5000... Average FPS: 20.15 As you can see, its not too spectacular, but, every little bit adds up, when I first got the game, my benchmark was at about 14fps.. My in-game performance is probably about 20-26fps on average, with lows of 17fps, and highs of 35fps... Originally, I was getting lows of 10fps, an average of 15-17fps, and highs of like 20fps... CptPusheen Posted February 3, 2009 Share Posted February 3, 2009 On my q6600 CPU and 4850 GPU game runs amazingly good at high settings(textures @medium) I don't encounter any corruptions, game runs at 30fps in 100% traffic and intense architecture, 40-45 in less crowded areas and 60 inside buildings so if it's going to give me 1-2 fps and slighty worse graphic I think I will stay with original settings Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Now you should put the difference in Tweaked FPS and UnTweaked FPS of each thing as follow. Then put at the end the overall FPS gain with all the these tweaks combined and Uncombined. Maybe this well help all these nagging threads and crying threads to end. Hey man the links are dead what can i do ? please help me because i need this files to get my gta 4 running a litle bit better on my notebook ! Really want this.. __________________________________ You don't have to install Notepad++ to edit the file.. the default one works to.. go to "Format" and then click "Word wrap".. Everything gets nicely lined up and you can change the values easily.. when you're done, click "Word wrap" again and save.. Tell me how this worked out for you guys..!!
