fredi_
If you are getting "0xc0000005" application error when trying to run executables in Windows 7 beta 7000 x86 (my os), here's what I discovered: DO NOT! use "Remove Watermark" patch for Windows 7. It will crash your Windows! After System Restore, everything is OK! Setup runned in Win XPSP2 mode + Admin rights Game running in Win 2000 + NO Admin rights Cheers! lpgunit
Sorry for bump, but thanks for the input. Turns out that this one caused the compatibility mod conflict. It is still possible to get rid of the watermark without affecting permission settings, but I dunno...
CameO73
First of all: I don't recommend applying the "remove watermark" patch, since it messes with windows system DLLs (user32.dll) and only removes the text in the lower right corner (which you hardly see anyway). The "Send Feedback"-link remover is simply a registry setting, and can be safely applied (copy/paste below text to nofeedback.reg file and double-click to activate): Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "FeedbackToolEnabled"=dword:00000000 I did have some 0xc0000005 errors when running setup programs. It turns out there could be a problem with certain installations in Windows 7. The fix is pretty easy (if you know what you're doing -- which you should if you run a beta O/S). Open a Command Prompt as Administrator Run the following command: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f Voila, you're done! Btw, I got this info from the Windows 7 help file.

Btw, I got this info from the Windows 7 help file.I had this problem before when I attempted an install on build 7000; applications fail to initialize when set to XP compatibility mode after the user32.dll patch was applied. It turned out to be a permission conflict of some sort, which kicks in when you try to mod the said DLL. You can still apply the patch and get rid of the watermark, though, by doing the folllowing, courtesy of Neowin. According to maxwin of Neowin Forums: I think I have found the solution. The crash is due to the wrong permission settings of the file "user32.dll" under "c:\windows\system32\" after the patch is applied. You can still apply the patch to remove the watermark. Then you need to correct the permission of the file. Go to "user32.dll", right click and select "Properties", under "Security" tab, correct the following permission settings. System - only "read and execute" and "read" Administrators - only "read and execute" and "read" Users - only "read and execute" and "read" TrustedInstaller - "Full Control" File Owner - TrustedInstaller Reminders: to add "TrustedInstaller", you need to type "NT Service\TrustedInstaller" without the quote.
