Who else thinks Rockstar f*cked us?

@Z welcome back, nah, I got up real early feeling kinda sh*tty, hanging around today. Yea, I am new to youtube, haven't had this cam that long and haven't used it much other than family events etc, been a rough while. It will take me less time in the futurE?

Errm, all I got to see was mediocre settings of medium textures settings and rather average draw distance and car settings to 1 with shadows to 0 and no FPS meter to signify anything that verifies or disproves the claims.

As you were gents...

Ouch Cockstar really f*cked me up pretty badly... =(

Not only did they forced me into buy new hardware, (quad @ 2,8 4GB Ram, 1GB video) they didn't even let me run the crappy buginfested piece of malware.... Out of videomemory ??? Yeah sure you f*ckin bugcoders

Feel very, very let down

Sorry R* last game i bought from you, can spend those money on better things... tip, read C/C++ for dummies next time you try to code, you might learn something wink.gif

Rockstar just didn´t Tested the Game properly like most Game developers do. They just thought that a Test on a Quad Core and a GTX280 will be equal and enough for all other Hardware types. They dind´t even tested it properly on ATI Hardware which is really a farce. And as we all know there are millions of combinations for PC Hardware. That was the main very big mistake they made.

The Game itself is not soooo bad programmed it just lacks of many many optimizations works.

@Zack: I kinda got passionate about it wanting to help lol. For both because no way can it be that bad on the one side, and then also because I know the problems I had in the beginning (those were with my video card, cat drivers actually, and not the game, though I thought it was the game) and now I've beaten the game while others had no chance to really enjoy it. I didn't get all of the pigeons yet, or any other smaller things like those and jumps and all of that, but not really interested this time around either: I liked the story, I like exploring and playing around by myself or with friends, I like MP (but I do get crashes in that - they could use a patch there, or I could stand to check for problems with my network, and I HAVE been kicked and I have suffered slow down with that but only in big open areas like the airport with 20 or so + players - I think I reach my limitations there, but it's understandable with the extra strain of it tracking that many more 'player 1's' and only when it's particularly hectic - like, I get booted when I feel like I'm in the end of First Blood: Rambo tounge.gif)

I want to help out, I get frustrated like the others but when I get frustrated it's not about dismay with the game, it's out of dismay for so many pointing at Rockstar. There have been a lot of upgrades for this game - which is fitting, PC hasn't seen something like this since Crysis hype, really. And it's not that GTA is as pretty, it is however doing a whole lot more. Upgrades can lead to functional PCs just waiting for disaster. A lot of people are even running this game perfectly now (I am not even immune and could be the same-->) on a time bomb waiting to BSOD or just plain not launch the next big game, all because it's configured now to do what it does, but it isn't ready for that one extra instruction set or something like that... Like, you see with your eyes, my sh*t runs it like a mile.

I don't get the slowdown I suffer in MP when the screen is going crazy at all in single player unless I am invincible and the game is at it's limits with cops and cop cars and gunfire (by the way - did you guys know hitting people with melee weapons disarms them? That's awesome. I never used a melee until I was invincible lol, guns against guns, and my knife for the unarmed or those with melee themselves)

Now, I do get to play MP for quite some time before it gets bad, but let's look at stutters or pauses too - in single player, I mean. I get those and it really does seem to be usually in the same vicinities, when I'm changing not boroughs but areas. Like, from north to south in algonquin the game might pause for half a second and then it's back on and rocking - I think that is my 533mhz ram + IDE drive OR my GFX is about to die, cause as I said, I had problems with my card for a while (I can still lock my whole system if I play games or movies too long without either alt tabbing or tunring off videos or rebooting to down-clock my ram, only exists with this GFX card in, so pissed - but that's not the game, it's my PC - but when I down clock to 400, 333, or 266mhz all of the sudden I have ALL of the issues with slow frame rate, late LOD switching, and very very rarely crashes as well. That's what put me on this kick about FSB/RAM speed - because the only way I can reproduce the most common problems is to underclock my ram from my already modest 533mhz in order to avoid a possible lock up if I use it for 3D or SOME web videos, not all flash videos, but some, namely youtube HD feeds and some other random ones that seem like universal 3rd party players based on youtube's)

Fack, I can't tell if that parenthesis is supposed to be there or not.

@LastSource: I'm using availablevidmem 2.0, but I'm not actually using it, it's just there. I'm still under my usual limits, might be why no I don't get any lag after a while (I've marathon played too - last week I spent a whole couple of lazy days on IV).

From now on people will be more carefull of new games from R*

Beware of R* crap devil.gif

Not really. The day that Rockstar sees people say NO to the "exclusive" console version, and then wait for the PC version, then we will see more quality and effort in their games. Until then, if we the consumers continue to act like suckers, Rockstar will continue to treat us as such.

Whoa... I really2 waiting for the day colgate.gif

From what your saying, the game is perfectly fine and you state some problems, how is that still perfectly fine? Another thing, the other day when I hosted on my 10 mb cable connection, 10 minutes into the game a message pops up, your computer is running too slow, and I get auto kicked. I was the host, wtf. Not to mention sometimes I see "double speed". No joke, everything runs super fast all the sudden then lags to hell. On the slower computers I didn't see any of this but it might be there, not sure.

I have 8 gbs of ram on this computer. Don't tell me to take out some or put more. It's more than ridiculious as is. I have seen the cpu usage as 85-90 and sometimes 20-25. Might make sense for the shuddering, and sometimes crazy ass speed.

This is a good result but QX9770 costs $1500 in my country and I dont want to spend so much sh*t to play GTA4.

Haha nice one, but I think all pc games have a similar problem with cheating online.

EDIT: zack, your problem might be ram, the stutters at least, maybe not the speeding up, but the stutters might be ram, look at the usage, other than that, that's an awesome benchmark, man, what r yewwwwww doing herE? tounge.gif

If you read back the last page, I said I should be in the nuetral group because there are truly some issues, but for the most part, it is nowhere near as bad as people think, and it's way less commonly rockstar's fault than our own tounge.gif Your bench is f*cking awesome, what problems are you experiencing???? Shudders? You mean stutters??? Dude... I wish mine ran like that - but that is how I'd expect it to run that box, too. On mine, I can only expect my 30FPS, I'm happy with it, can't really tell the difference between that and higher personally, just lower that would irk me, and if my box was AT ALL any slower than it is, I would expect lower fps.

@LSD: @LSD, details, details, my man. You see it with your own eyes. It even actually looks like it stutters, but it doesnt, its my cam or the video after I made it smaller in Movie Maker or something. Anyway, let me make this perfectly clear to you.

My settings - I can ramp up traffic, but why? It's not fun like that - but let's not talk about that, let's talk about texture settings and view/detail. View Detail is plenty for my 1680 resolution - you cant even SEE the difference if you turn it up. My settings are great, because by the time cars change out to their LOD, they are like 20 pixels big anyway lol. I could see if I was running 2560 or something, then sure, I'd turn that up, maybe even just 1920 if my monitor supported it - but it doesnt, so rather than turn up settings that have NO business being high on my resolution settings, since it's not all about how far you can see, but rather how many pixels MAKE UP the objects that you see...

Please, tell me any difference between medium and high textures other than VERY rare improvements in bump maps, and sharper, faker looking STATIC shadows in High? My machine performs equally as good on high textures, btw. I DO notice more frequently that "pause" I explained above between "areas" of the game, but I know why - it is because I need to actually utilize those vidmem 2.0 settings to do it - in effect I am overdoing it for my PC, so OF COURSE I see issues then.

The question is not hwo phenominal do I run the game, it is how well it runs on minimum hardware - and run well it does - and how even the Recommended hardware SHOULD NOT - I repeat SHOULD NOT turn those settings up UNLESS they are running at FULL 1080p or higher - and if they do, f*ck it, more power to you, but ALL you are doing is pleasing your Slider Boner, because you CANNOT tell a difference at a point until you turn the resolution up, then you CANNOT tell a difference AGAIN until you turn it up again.

Go ahead, launch your game, start with 800x600 lol. Now increase DETAIL (with view at ONE) until you see that increasing it anymore would be pointless (this should be BEFORE it stops changing the pixels but AFTER you can't really tell WHAT the new pixels are - because they are too far away for it to even matter).

Now, pop up to 1024 - do it again - from the settings you have - and stop when it becomes useless again. Now bump up and repeat. Keep going. Start understanding the VERY sophisticated way they put this together.

Yes, for a PAST PC like mine and a PRESENT DAY PC like many here, this game will run fine - even if you need to REALLY become intimate with your system for it to happen. It won't do high. It was built to last through 2 more games (at least 2), without changing the graphics MUCH, but just improving them, just like III to SA. By the time the next one comes, we'll all be running it like butter, and by the time the SA equivalent comes, we'll all say it looks dated but really be appreciating it on our new standard 2560x displays and ATI HD99000. Which sounds like some crazy NASA future talk, but we are RIGHT ON THE CUSP of a technological revolution, in both price and capability, and Rockstar is about the ONLY game company I have seen preparing for it...

HOW THE f*ck IS THAT KIND OF BENCH AWESOME. SOME OF US HAVE POWERFUL RIGS AND CANT RUN THE GAME IN 50+ FPS B/C OF WHAT A sh*tTY PORT GTA IV PC IS.

8800 GTX

4 GB OF RAM

QUAD CORE CPU

AND I GET 30-35 FPS IN BENCHMARK. THIS IS SOMETHING I'D EXPECT FROM CRYSIS, BUT NOT A GTA IV PC sh*t GAME WITH sh*t GRAPHICS THAT IS CLEARLY NOT ON CRYSIS'S LEVEL!

No dude, you don't want it to run like mine does. It's unplayable. I call it shudders (like shut out of a game), just like I call noobies, nubs. Since the frames per second is staying around 60+ I would assume there is some other problem. If you can play a game that lags and goes fast all the sudden then it's for you. But I think I'll leave this game in my cd booklet, and play something else, maybe Left 4 Dead.

And if you do buy my processor and have the same problem, well don't come to me for answers. I'm sick of trying to make a game work for the computer when simply it should be the other way around.

Minimal offense, but you're being an idiot at the moment. <-- That's not cool. If you expect that kind of FPS in crysis, then you should REALLY expect like 5 or 10 in GTA IV. This game is to crysis as 8 cylinders is to... a go kart... lol. Graphically, no. But graphics are like, nowhere near as demanding as the rest of a game these days, and GTA is a big step and big example of that... especially a game like GTA... which is pretty demanding in that way itself, but proportionally and understandably, even if it's not as shiny as crysis, it's doing a whole lot more crud.

I don't know what's wrong with your computer, I'm not God, but his bench is awesome. 60+ fps is awesome, but his ram, for some reason is being used 98% and he says he has 8 gigs, so that is some crazy sh*t. Something is wrong with his ram, or it is stuttering because it is full.

@Zack: how are you using 98% of 8gigs? Pagefile disabled? That would definitely cause sh*t. But I still don't see how 8 gigs would be 98% used wow.gif

Minimal offense, but you're being an idiot at the moment. If you expect that kind of FPS in crysis, then you should REALLY expect like 5 or 10 in GTA IV. This game is to crysis as 8 cylinders is to... a go kart... lol. Graphically, no. But graphics are like, nowhere near as demanding as the rest of a game... especially a game like GTA... which is pretty demanding, but proportionally and understandably, even if it's not as shiny as crysis, it's doing a whole lot more crud.

LoL, didn't I just say don't ask me? I'm sick of this game and I could care less anymore, I just want my money back. Still for team, Rockstar f*cked Us!

Can we watch the quote trains in here, if you want to quote someone use a bit of time to quote the specific thing, do not quote the entire post the person did.

Is this the only game/app that uses this much ram?

I really doubt this game even needs that much ram.

Yea, I know, i mean, is this the only app tht does this? Or does your PC eat up your ram like that all the time? Or did you doctor those results/specs sly.gif

Can you please f*cking die? Preferably by getting crushed to death in a garbage compactor, by getting your face cut to ribbons with a pocketknife, your head cracked open with a baseball bat, your stomach sliced open and your entrails spilled out, and your eyeballs ripped out of their sockets. *beep* bitch

I really hope that you get curb-stomped. It'd be hilarious to see you begging for help, and then someone stomps on the back of your head, leaving you to die in horrible, agonizing pain. *beep*

Shut the *beep* up f aggot, before you get your face bashed in and cut to ribbons, and your throat slit.

Why he or she edited some cusses, I don't know, but they are pretty well disturbed, and I am pretty well frightened, and I am seeking their IP to report them to the authorities, as there are already enough stalkers on me, and I don't need that, especially not on the internet, and I will be seeking punishment for this sick individual, or at the least a psych evaluation should I be supplied with the information to do so.

Yea with my 18+ years of experience I could doctor right up in no time... couldn't I? But then again I would still need a super fast computer to do that too, so maybe I didn't? You saw how fast I posted it. It's much easier to copy paste results.
