Peteruk
I know the game has problems but this is a joke. I have a 8800GT 512MB with 181.20 drivers Crysis plays fine but GTA IV 10 mins and all hell breaks out. I all ready have patched and tried uninstalling RivaTuner and -memrestrict 314572800 Is their anyone running the game fine on XP with a 8800GT or does everyone have I problem running this game? Bobby Budnick
No problems here with that configuration on multiple computers. Uninstall that driver in safemode, and install the latest stable driver 180.48 in safemode. If you still get the BSOD, you can start looking towards your hardware. First thing to check would be RAM. I said Crysis plays fine and I play for over 2 hours online do you really think its a hardware problem. Bobby Budnick
Well my first suspicion would be the driver you are using, then hardware. I think this game is even more demanding on systems than Crysis, even though it looks worse. Edit: After installing the latest stable drivers, be sure to run the game without ANY command line switches at all. FRAGEYE
Seem like a driver problem to me, if crysis is ok and others too then yes try another driver, either 180.48 or 185.20. I have a 8800gt alphadog edition and the game runs for hours online. I was on driver 180.48 what was stable, the 180.84 driver was a bad driver for me and wouldn't work games at all. For different configs different drivers are needed. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/391799-first-game-to-bsod-on-me/#findComment-1058870857 Share on other sites
Peteruk
I think I found my problem (may help others) it was my AR RAM disk I had setup for Temporary Internet Files uninstalled it and the game runs fine more or less. Guess GTA IV does not respect allocated RAM not to be used like other games do.
