Help Increasing Performance

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Bought GTA IV for PC and I must say it is amazing. However, i'm hitting around 20-27 FPS average on the following:

Resolution: 800 x 600

Low

Low

I don't have any command lines set yet, so if you could give me any lines on the command line, or general performance increasing tips, please share.

Specs are..

Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz

2GB RAM

GeForce 8600 GT 512mb

Windows Vista 32-bit

First go to the menu and close the clip capture option. Then try a higher resolution you should get the same frames. Same with the textures try on high.

I have 2,4Ghz intel a 9800GT and get 30-40fps with the settings you posted. Perhaps you should try some other drivers for your graphic card.

2 excellent FPS boosters in this thread:

The resolution trick is a little tricky, but you will LOVE the difference in visuals at practically no cost.

Also in your Nvidia control panel set pre rendered frames to 1 it is 3 by default, set vertical sync to "force off", and set texture filtering to "performance". (you will get jello water though)

I use some commandline parameters in addition to the ones I need to get the resolution trick to work, they are -minspecaudio -novblank -memrestrict 209715200, I use these because I get the so called memory leak, but I think it will boost FPS a little too.

But the biggest boosts I got was from the new drivers and the patch.
