My OK Happy Spot

Hello .....

 

Before taking the few missions I drove around for about hour1/2 before

the things happened below. >>

Ok found my somewhat sweet happy spot were game is somewhat playable

after finding this setting driving around looking at the city

I decided to do first mission meet Roman to go to Hardware store

wait a bit outside then the loan sharks come into play and chase me down shoot at me

ok then drive back to drop Roman off ...... ok mission done.

Then next mission go pickup the girls take them back to appartment done that

no problem. then in the meantime I go get some clothes you all know the mission

after get clothes everything seems to be ok to this point then I go to pickup Michelle

to go on this date thing and after they walk out of Micheles pad we go into the car

he says what do you like to do she says the same thing just after that I start to take

off the game goes all goofy I get like white specs are something all over my screen

sound is garbage but does not freeze I can still drive around go to the date spot

but my radar map is gone except the icons are there but no road map at all??

The game is then not playable like this @ all but I can still move drive around.

I do not know what happened I thought it was going to do ok it did for a while before

the $hit happened??

Desktop Res is @ 1280x1024x32 @ 72 Refresh rate

System runs fine .... even other games no probs.

My GTA4 Sweet spot I found

 

(still trying to tweak as much as I can squeeze out

 

I followed MonkeyMHZ guideline and found this setting and how I did it

let me know if I did it right I got a bit confused about the setting/guideline

 

Ok first I launch game set the settings to as follows

 

800x600(72Hz)

Aspect Ratio = Auto

Resources used 340/400 > 340 divided by 400= 0.85

 

Then quit GTA4 (saving settings, and then go to my GTA4

folder and setup my commandline.txt file

as follows: >

height=768 width=1024 availablevidram 0.85 -novblank -noprecache -refreshrate 72 (anything else I need?)

Save my commandline.txt file inside of GTA4 Root folder

 

Close all open appz

 

Restart GTA4

Game Starts setting a game menu then go to my

options screen then graphics settings

and this is as follows: >

 

1024x768(72Hz)

Aspect Ratio = Auto

Resources used 340/400 < numbers are in the green

 

Then CTRL+ALT+DEL

 

opens Task Manager

Close out GTA4 Done My Settings should be saved Correctly?

Restart Game, After game starts do not go to Graphics settings?

but you can change other options correct? (except graphics)?

Play game

Sweet Spot for me now : > any more I would think I would have to upgrade CPU/maybe even faster Video card

Let me know if I have done all this right?

But do not know why the above happened?

 

I will do some further testing to see I will go back in game and just drive around

for while to see if it craps out?

 

I really think if Rockstar will do us a good patch some or most issues HOPEFULLY

WILL GO AWAY??

You are trying to play the game on outdated (at least for gaming) hardware. Your system is under the minimum requirements GTA IV needs to run even though other games might run OK. This is not Rockstar's fault and no patch will be able to fix this.

Yep, you're gonna have to live with the problems you're getting unless you upgrade. The hardware you have is not powerful enough at all for a game like GTA IV.

 

But nice going on tweaking the game . Maybe the -novblank command would also help you. Try the memory leak fix topic too. Might give you some FPS, it did for me.

The only "patch" that will fix your game is a complete new updated rig m8.
