Getting online NOT

Im playing the pc version of GTA IV and I try to get online via the phone in the game. I click to play online, then it states that I must be signed in to Windows Live to get online. So, I press Home to bring up the Windows Live menu and there is no sign in button but a sign off button is present, which I presume means I am signed in. Another thing is that it tells me I have signed in when I load up the game. Am I doing something wrong here? Is anyone else having this problem? Is a patch needed and is there any available confused.gif
