FenixDelta753
I just bought a new mobo and ram and now i need a decent CPU and GPU to play GTA on medium settings. I'm not about to sell my new stuff XP
anus
Tell me how much you can spend for the CPU. If you can spend $160 for the CPU, there's this Phenom 9950 Black Edition (unlocked multiplier) in Newegg for $159.99 which is one hell of a deal. The 9950 paired with a 9800GT would let you play IV at high or even very high detail with good FPS.
Samul
Good luck with an AMD to me and to most people theses are not gaming cpu there just simple desktop cpu. If you want a good cpu go with intel I got an E8400 and the game runs super fine in 1600X1200 with my gtx 280!

anus
Go for this: CPU. Video Card. Total comes down to 156.54. I went with this combo because IV is more CPU dependent than GPU dependent, so I had to get an equally balanced system. This is an awesome combo IMO and I really recommend that you go for it. anus
The CPU and the video card that I linked to are better than the ones you linked to. Man, the slight increase in price is worth it. Trust me, if you go with my combo, you'll be glad you did . If you don't want a open box video card get this instead. The 9600GT totally destroys and stomps all over the 4670. And the CPU is much better than the 6000+ too. Edited January 10, 2009 by Warlord.
FenixDelta753
Right but the problem i have with the black edition is that you need a seperate cooling fan and heatsinc, why dont you think that the 6000 is a good choice?
anus
Ah yeah. Sorry man I forgot that the BE doesn't come with a cooler. That CPU is fine then, but the 4670 is still horrible. Get this 4830. Its open box, but it beats the 9600GTs too.

anus
Then go for this 4830 dude. Its a Sapphire and its not open box, but it is a little more expensive. BNut there's a $10 mail-in rebate.
FenixDelta753
I was looking at that one, but the problem is, if i get that card then i have to skimp out on a CPU (a 5200 or 5600 X2) I was thinking about getting a 8800 GTS 320 bit but it only has 320 MB, how do you guys think that will preform?
anus
A 5600 X2 would be fine man. There'll only be a small difference between the 5600 and the 6000. Besides, you can easily overclock to 6000 speeds with the 5600. About the video card, the 4830 is on the level of the 9800GTX, which will definitely outperform a 8800GTS 320MB. 0goldeneye0
This is what I recommend For CPU I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115200 For GPU I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814133253 I don't think you understand. I have an am2 mobo and a 160 budget hint hint, the smilly gives away that its a joke. I dont know I just picked the most expensive GPU and CPU at newegg. I thought it would be funny. FenixDelta753
Ok just as an update, i did get the parts, I put them in my case, wired them all up, hit the power button, all was good till the comp shut off 3 seconds later. So to make a long story short i bought a new Antec earthwatts 430 watt power supply and it should be here on Wednesday and then I'll let you guys know how everything runs. It depends on what you may call "running", what are your GFX settings and resolution ? How is your FPS ? To make GTA 4 run all max GFX settings at 1680 x 1050 and above, youll need a damn good multi core CPU, ill tell you. Click on the pic to enlarge 1680 x 1050. greyno3
It locks up when I run the test. It's probably at the minimum for requirements! It runs fine and looks fine. Only problem is, I have to restart XP to get out of the game.

FenixDelta753
When I had my old sempron 2500+ I couldn't even get the game to start, so what makes it that you can get the game running with a single core and I couldn't?
