Do ya think that Rockstar Games just gave up? Are they going to make new patches which repair these mistakes. I'm talking about horrible shadows, appearing plants, bushes, fences etc. or other problems which ppl got with this game! I think they just piss off this product and they'll do more in new addition to GTA IV... It's sad cuz lot of ppl have been waiting for really nice GTA without problems ;/ What do ya think bout that?!

Well so far not a word that they even work or investigate all theese issues so dont hold your breath for anything sad.gif

Rockstar Toronto have not given up, we have just had nearly two weeks of public holidays where nothing gets done. If you check out the trouble shooting section you will see there is a Rockstar representative still there, he is still answering topics and taking notes. We have already heard Rockstar Toronto state that they are COMMITTED to the PC version for the long term.

What you need to do is show a bit of patience whilst Rockstar Toronto now gets down to things, the holiday's are now over so I imagine they are now knuckling down and investigating all the problems. If we hear nothing by the end of January at the earliest then you can start going "Rockstar Toronto gave up" till then it is way too soon for this kind of crap.

They never gonna give you up,

Never gonna let you down,

Never gonna run around and desert you!

Patience you must have, little one!

Here you go :-

Regardless of the percentages, we are continuing to work to make the game work as intended for as many system configurations as possible.

That is a quote from the Rockstar Toronto user in the troubleshooting forums. We know for sure that the Rockstar Toronto user does actually work for Rockstar Toronto. So it is quite clear from that, they are still working on the PC version and just need an appropriate amount of time to do it.

If they will confirm further commitment to patching and optimizing the game engine, as well as actually adding actually x64 support then everything would be good. I mean, if you are developing a patch, you should say so, but if not then do not let us wait forever and let us know that you future proofed the game and thats it. And not like a single post on a forum either.

Even tho we have had holidays recently there was still plenty on time to reassure PC users and inform us what they plan too do... theres really no excuse for the lack of information they have been willing to give.

A new thread with the same question will be created in 3, 2, 1...

Pfft, the front page of posts gets filled up in 30 minutes, and 60% of it is about stuff like this.

They leave us when they released GTA IV for PC rampage_ani.gif

Yea and that is why rockstar toronto has been busy in the support board even as many of the people asking for help try their best to insult them, some continuing to talk smack rather than provide things like dxdiag reports when asked by toronto for them.

How can they be supporting the game as we speak but not be supporting the game? It makes no sense to me.....

Now or Never

Well we got to admit they blewit with this one but its the first game with this much grafichs so all we can do is hope that the other game they'll make won't have these problems.

I believe that they will post some patch or helpfull program in the next month. The problem with the game is the huge amount of not-optimized heavy size textures that cost too much memory and CPU usage, in addition the "Euphoria" actions are too costly to the CPU.

The problem is that to solve it, they need to optimize the RAGE engine, or almost to rebuild it.

For better duel CPU and win 7 compatibility is not a problem to realse a patch, but for overall CPU usage saving they need to work pretty hard.

I will install in the near future win 7. and I advice for everyone with performance problems to put aside gta 4 for 3-5 weeks and to play something else, It's a waste to finish GTA for the first time with sh!tty framerate or textures.

Dont think the shadows can be fixed, they are dynamic shadows cast everywhere and the complexity of the game world is very high, the only solution is using a high display resolution and the "P" filter. If you are expecting high quality, perfect soft shadows you are out of it.

As for optimising, they cant go as far as making this very demanding game run on any crap so unless you have a good PC but experience some kind of compatbility problem dont expect miracles, you might not need a patch but an upgrade.

The objects appearing out of nowhere can be greatly improved by increasing the detail distance slider, if you have the HW to do so..

I have exactly 1 bug and that is the car drivers not showing up over distance, the game has some compatbility problems and is very demanding but other than that its not as bad as people are making it look.

I don't really care whether there'll be a patch or not, but one thing I want is that GFWL to support my f*cking country. How the hell could they f*ck this so bad?? Make it like Steam :\

Oh right since you only have one bug then that must mean others don't have problems.

There is no doubt that too many people are playing GTA IV on old hardware but the game doesn't scale even on the latest hardware, at all! Look around to net at some benchmarks. It's a joke. The game is poorly, poorly put together and unless Rockstar is going to invest some serious money to fix the performance issues it's going to be years before you can play this game at a decent frame rate.

I feel right now they're taking stock to see how much work (money) its going to take to resolve the outstanding problems before they say yes we are going to do another patch.

Rockstar Games won't give this up. They can't afford to. Because most possibly the next GTAs will follow the same style of programming, architecture and whatnot. So if they don't fix this now, who knows what more problems the next GTAs will bring.

they gave up they dont care

over a month later and 1 patch cmon this topic is absolutely due

the only thing they cared about was getting it out in time to be on the shelves for christmas

its obvious now

if they cared they would have done everything in their power to correct the game in a timely fashion

2 week vaca STFU then they should have waited a month to release it then

if youre gonna release a game with problems 3 weeks before christmas you should be damn well prepared to be working to support your product

ive stopped playing untill this gets fixed i dont want to finish it with sht graphics issues either

ive turned to playing First Strike - Star Wars mod for BF2142, for now

CS:S had a big problem on its initial release date i think it was patched within 24 hours

Actually that is a pretty good point there Drag_Drift, how they support GTA 4 on the PC will give us a clue as to the fate of the entire GTA franchise on the PC. As I have already shown they are still supporting it and have stated they are looking into things.

If they should unceremoniously dump the PC version then I guess we can pretty much pack up our lockers and leave the site because GTA 4 will be the last GTA on the PC IF they ditch support for it. Thankfully there is no sign they are about to do that despite what some scare mongerers will have us believe.

scare monger?

the game came out 40 days ago

thats ridiculous

imagine you bought a new TV and you got it home and the cord was cut off

then the store said well its gonna take 2 months to fix cause we have a 2 week vacation in 2 weeks so we dont want to work that hard

vacation, everything is shut down was their excuse?

give me a fckin break

i didnt realize you had to get textures from the texture supply depot

or does the ontario power authority shut off the electricity to the city cause they're on a 2 week holiday too?

fix the game dont go on vacation if you decide to have a major release "just in time" for christmas

If it makes anyone feel better, there were 60 days between the release of San Andreas PC and the 1.01 patch (which had several fixes besides Hot Coffee removal).

Don't panic till after it's 60 days, January 31. wink.gif

How is that the truth? Rockstar couldn't possibly have predicted the type of issues everyone is complaining about. You all seem to forget that every single PC is different to the one before it, thus creating new issues and problems.

Iminicus, unless Rockstar tell us exactly what configurations they did the QA(if at all) on and it manages to run smoothly without the awful performance, then yes they really could have and probably did predict the game would be like it is. A lot of the issues are optimisation-related.

Yes, all PCs are different, but don't exaggerate it. Standardised applets like DirectX were created precisely to deal hardware getting too diverse: different hardware is expected to produce similiar results.

Bully for PC still has serious issues, but Rockstar haven't said a word about it and have now stopped replying to my e-mails altogether. We can assume from this that they are only doing anything at all for GTA IV due to the volume of compltaints.

EDIT: On numerous occassions recently, I've stated my position that all it would take for me to buy the game is official confirmation for a performance patch. If Rockstar Toronto intends for the game to be played as intended, it would not be hard to lift the vagueness for a minute and type a post explicitly confirming that a patch to that effect is being worked on.

Yeah, loads of people don't seem to realize this. Some people just join this forum to say how "Rockstar did a bad job" or "this game sucks". They aren't taking their time to figure out how Rockstar is standing by our side, fixing up GTA 4 as much as they can, as quick as they can.

Anyone who has played PC games for a significantly long time knows that companies properly patching/supporting their games is the rare exception, not the rule. If R* were the former, we would have not been given only a single patch fixing freaking bowling. They would be all over it, if only to avoid the bad press.

Personally, I get it to run ~30 fps at a crappy resolution, so I'm able to play. The fact that any number of people can't play the game at all points towards a major issue with the game that should have been caught during QA, let alone patched within days of release. Defending R*'s lack of support and letting it slide is the definition of fanboyism and is more aggravating than the constant whining about the same issues.

I didnt rule out compatbility problems, yeah there are some serious problems out there, some are having problems running the game in 64 bit systems, others have the traditional problems related to ATI (sh*tty drivers, good luck with that), SLI not being supported, etc.. but you also have lots asking about how to install drivers, trying to run a game that uses 1.5GB of ram on a system that only has 2 blush.gif (i know what the requirements say), those who dont even meet the minimum requirements (and blame/flame R*), those who just about meet the minimum requirements but want high settings, etc, etc.

And the game might never run at what some will consider a decent frame rate but it can certainly run at a playable frame rate.
