wngssptr Posted January 9, 2009 Share Posted January 9, 2009 I've been waiting to play GTA 4 for months now and when I finally bought the game today, I couldn't wait to try it out. However, for some reason, whenever I try to launch the game by pressing play, the above message appears. So, I click on login in now, then select skip login but after that, the above message continues appearing. What should I do? Oh, I did set up an account but I've no idea how to do the last part, which is to link my PC to the website or something like that. The website mentions something about windows live. After a few minutes, the taskbar disappears and nothing happens. When I use it as Administrator, the Razor sign will come out and then it will freeze. What should I do? Thanks in advance. emorgen86 Posted January 10, 2009 Share Posted January 10, 2009 To log into offline mode disconnect from your ethernet/wireless connection. I'm using vista so I right click on the taskbar icon (bottom right) that has 2 computers and a a little earth symbol and click "Network and Sharing Center" and then on the left hand side of the window click "Manage network connections". Then disable either the wirelss or Local area connection depending on how your connected to the internet. You can do offline mode without disconnecting, just skip login like you did, then click play, then it will tell you it's offline and some things will be disabled (multiplayer and acheivements). When I can't login, it is usually just as I launch social club, or just as I reboot and it launches (I let it startup, closing if I'm not playing). I think it logs in faster than it initializes it's own socket or some sh*t. I dunno. Closing and restarting it, or doing it again after the offline "skip login" usually does the trick. heat84 Posted January 10, 2009 Share Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) The "Razor sign" is what you see if you crack the game with Razor911's crack. And the correct term is splash screen. I only used it to see if disabling SecuROM would improve performance. Apparently its supposed to but didn't seem to for me. I was gonna go back to the uncracked EXEs, but after SecuROM temporarily bricked my DVD drive, I'm not gonna let SecuROM anywhere near it anymore. By "playing anyway" (I know it is only a start since its only single player, but maybe it will help to troubleshoot) Put your old exe back too at least until it gets to running. I've just managed to log into the Rockstar Games Social Club Home Page and the Rockstar Games Social Club Windows shows my account on the top right hand corner. However, now when I press play, the Razor sign comes out followed by the LaunchGTA4.exe. The only thing on the launcher is a blinking cursor. After a few seconds, the launcher disappears and the Rockstar Games Social Club Windows appears again! No matter how many times I try it, it still happens. I'm sorry that my problem keeps on 'evolving' like this, it's very annoying, I know. Therefore, I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you in advance. Tell you what, uninstall the game and all cracks and addons, install it all again fresh, do nothing else then follow steps here and dont use crack and maybe someone will help. I'm having the same problem as the poster that create the thread, when i click on play it says "you're not currently logged into social club" any ideas? thanks. edit: i don't have that message anymore but when i click play, nothing happens and then it ask me for a serial number (which everyone on the other forum got it to work without writing any serial) i dont understand what did i do wrong.
