The Phenom II X4 940 BE doesn't just beat its predecessor, but in 1,680 x 1,050 it is even faster than the similarly priced Intel Q9950. At lower resolutions both are on the same level.

 

The fastest dual-core CPU, the Core 2 Duo E8600 with 3.3 GHz, reaches only 29 fps - even the Phenom X4 9950 BE with only 2.6 GHz is noticeably faster. Both Phenom II CPUs deliver good results in this test: The Phenom II X4 920 with 2.8 GHz is as fast as the first Phenom with 3GHz at 1,280 x 1,024.

 

Looking at cost of upgrading the AMD system, it a good deal. this new processor fits in same old AM socket.

Yeah I saw some of these benchmarks. Its really good to have AMD back and able to actually compete with Intel this time.

 

They've got good products in both their CPU sector and at ATI. People can now actually build a good all AMD rig.

those benchmarks stink of gpu bottleneck. hard to tell which cpu delivers the most performance here.

I am not baised towards AMD.

 

People who want to play GTA IV and cant afford expensive INTEL, now can build a good machine with reason price.

I actually meant that Core2Duo 8600 reaches more than 29 FPS, but whatever.

After all these years.. it seems that amd finally managed to make a decent cpu. Congratz to them.

I'd love to see a benchmark with one of the Phenom X3's. It'd be interesting to see if they stayed with the quads in GTA.
