philxx
With my 2,4 Ghz and 8600m GT I seem to barely meet the requirements for GTA IV to play somewhat acceptable. Although this is exactly what R* claims to be the recommended specs.... Anyway, after tweaking around (in game res set to 800x600, distance set around 10, etc., increased res. by adding the desired res to commandline/shortcut) and updating my driver I ended up at barely 30 FPS (starting from 7-9...). Good enough I guess. But why on earth does R* include an auto configure functionality that leads to horrible FPS?? One would think auto configure takes away the hassle to figure out settings by yourself and deliver some decent results! This is absolute crap. They could have added a disclaimer that you better try out yourself as running the game with auto configure most likely will let you end up with just worthless performance!! And obviously MonkeyMhz suggestions - working really well for me - should definitely have been included to the games internal menue. R* could have kept a lot of trouble from their customers... this is bad service guys. Perhaps R* might take some of the suggestions into consideration for future patches!
