Are you sure it's restricted to pirated versions? The guy I'm talking about managed to get by the problem by replacing his hard disk. Although, he was apparently installing from DVD. I'm not saying that because you get a CRC error you have an illegal copy but because he basically said in his post that he downloaded the game. I suppose I simply made an assumption that he downloaded the game via bittorrent. But yes many people have been coming here with similar problems admitting that they downloaded it through bittorrent.
