heat84
think you have enough specs? We need the name of the people who built it at the factory, whether they're married, # of kids they have, and what kind of car they drive.
Dave365
lol nice fellas.... I have a laptop with an Intel 7350 dual core, 9600M GT GPU with 512 meg, 2 Gb RAM, and a 7,200 rpm hdd. Other than the hdd a little less than what you spec out on all other fronts. It plays GTA IV. Not great, not very fun with the low FPS, and hot enough to make the WASD area glow, but it does run it and is more stable than my desktop for some reason. Feels like 12-14 FPS. I'd estimate you will get 18-20 FPS average. Playable, but for twice the price of the same so-so performance you would get from a desktop.
Gjurovski
Well ive explaind in other topic what do i think about this kind of hardware.... Laptops are not for gaming!!!! You can hardly call it laptop, first of all its heavy like hell even if you are mad to cary that around you wont get more than an hour of battery life, second its 17" LCD wich has native resolution of 1440x900 (every other resolution is just looking like turd) and even with that kind of configuration you can hardly expect to play in native resolution without lagg wich is anoying specialy in multyplayer.... (maybe they will fix it on upcoming patch) And ofcourse the amount of money is big relevance here (for me aleast)... you can have a good rig and some cheaper laptop for almost same amount of money.... BTW if you put that kind of configuration on desktop you will get atleast a 30% more power than laptop with same hardware.... Just post link of hardware shop where you buy hardware so we can fix you some desktop and laptop (wich can play older games)... ayushisrocking
Get a desktop. You will EASILY be able to get around 50-60 FPS if you get a decent PC with that money
Pixelated
The 9650GT has half the amount of stream processors and half the amount of RAM as the desktop 9600GT. It will run but like they said above it will have to be on the lowest settings and probably won't play to well, unfortunately.
miarkus
Just buy 7200rpm disk or even sdd. Once again to all those ppl that dont have lappies and say "oh now lappy is sh*t.." - stfu. you will get at least 30fps on that one. I am bored with giving on this forum my example - 1.5 year old 1,8Ghz core2duo 2gb ram nvidia 8600m 512 xp sp3 - easily 25-30fps @ mid settings on 1280x800 with 1.01 patch (without it was about 15fps).. so go for it man

Alexis27
Forget the laptop / desktop angle. It boils down to two things: the CPU and GPU. If you want to play GTA IV well, you need at least a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo and a GeForce 8800 or 9800.

Why dont you read the f*cking FIRST post! A when you donne with reading letter by letter come back and tell me configuration of the laptop that guy asked opinion about... Maybe i should translate he asked about the LAPTOP WITH 17" LCD AND NATIVE RESOLUTION IS 1440x900 NOT 1280x800!!!!! And yeah its wise to spent 1200erous for laptop that runs in 20 fps with medium settings.... and i wont even to try to explain how does it runs in multyplayer for example race with 12 players and above (specialy when they are infront of you)... The Horror Is Alive
It will work in low settings. Mine works fine in medium settings, and my graphics card is not as good as this one.
