Chris2342
Hi, I've installed GTA IV onto my PC up until just before you put the product key part but when I press play on the main rockstar games social club application to try to start the game, the window closes and nothing happens. I have tried it a million times, does anyone have any suggestions of what has gone wrong and what I could do to solve this problem? Please post!! Cheers! DRMetzger
Does it work if you go into the gta4 directory and run launchgtaIV.exe? Also make sure it isn't still running in task manager as i've seen it there when I had the same thing happen.
Chris2342
Cheers for helping mate. Ok, I re-installed the game, up until the same place as last time where I got to the r* social club window. Once again when I pressed play in the window, it disappeared and nothing happened except I got this measage, "the rockstar games social club application is still running. To open this application, right click the icon in the system tray." it is a continuous loop and nothing happens. I took your advice and looked in the task manager and it was not there. Also, when I clicked on launchgtaIV.exe, nothing at all happened. Could this be the reason it is not working?
wasteofmoney
I get exactly the same. 1. Click Play and it displays "rockstar games social club application is still running. To open the application, right click the icon in the system tray" 2. It is impossible to proceed until RSGC is terminated. 3. Closing the RGSC app terminates the launch. 4. Launching from the .exe on the disk launches RSGC app which takes you to back to 1. Terminating the RGSC process in task manager terminates the game launch. I've spent 6 hours trying to install GTA 4. This is my third install where I am unable to get through to the license screen. Took the game back to the shop for a refund but was refused because the seal had been broken. Not impressed, was so looking forward to this game. mkey82
Look in the FAQ for RGSC related issues. This is a .net framework problem.
