Monster trucks are able to ride over cars (except big rigs), break most vegetation, and destroy structures. Bikes also have new capabilities so they can bunny hop and the driver can duck. Custom music tracks using a player's own music stored on their PS3 hard drive are available as are trophies (to unlock more Drivers and Vehicles) and camera angles are improved for crashes; vehicle damage is also improved. Levels The 16 tracks (compared to eight tracks originally available in the first game) contain "thick mud, tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, choking volcanic clouds and searing lava pools". They are set around volcanic mountain sides, beaches, jungle, caves, and a run-down sugar factory. Another new feature in Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is the presence of water in the form of rivers and pools. Water also cools down cars engines, which presents a whole line of new tactics; vehicles will slow down as they go through deep water, with buoyancy featuring for vehicles that venture into water too deep for that vehicle type.[3] Vegetation will fight back against the smaller vehicles and only the bigger vehicles will be able to go through it. Vehicles MotorStorm: Pacific Rift features all 7 vehicle classes from the original game (Bikes, ATVs, Buggies, Rally Cars, Racing trucks, Mud Pluggers and Big Rigs) as well as a new class, Monster Trucks. Monster trucks are relatively fast and capable of crushing opponents and vegetation, however because they are so big and high up, their centre of gravity isn't that low, making them very easy to overturn. They will not be able to run over Big Rigs because Big Rigs are the second toughest vehicle in its class (thanks to its very high strength, and its difficulties of being crushed to the side) and they are the only ones who can battle against the Monster Trucks. All vehicle classes featured in the original MotorStorm appear in the new game as well as a whole new array of vehicles. This includes vehicles downloaded as part of game packs such as Revenge Weekend and Devil's Weekend. - Didn't found any Official topic about motorstorm at all, so I think its ok to start a new one. Perilous beyond belief though, especially later in the game where opponents go out of their way to make you crash. And yeah, the game is pretty damn awesome, I should complete it by the weekend as I've already reached the final rank and I only have a couple more races on each element theme. If you didn't play the first one, get this one. its just the first one with a lot of new things... I see a lot of stuff improved, and the whole tropical atmosphere is really different (the levels are more worked out, there are lots of varieties (from the Fire levels with lava rivers to the tropical beach rivers) I'm in the rank 6 or around that, its starting to get hard from here, as I need 200 points more and I don't know what to do. Yeah, I'm getting to the point that they've been getting really annoying. But, the tracks are really varied, so it's great to play. I never did try the first one, but I'm glad I picked this up. Skyline_Mad Posted January 10, 2009 Share Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) I love this game, far better than the first (got boring after a while, stuck on the last couple of events), i have been playing it quite alot today (day off, i havn't had much time to play games lately with work and xmas etc...), think i'm half way through rank 5, the vehicle variety is alot better in this one, i think i've unlocked more than there were in the first, and theres still loads more i havn't got yet. I like the way there are different types of levels, instead of them all being in a desert like the first one, its good to see a variety, if i get bored or stuck on one, i can change to another. Motorstorm 1 looked good graphicly, but Pacific Rift is such an improvement, i feel this is how PS3 games should have looked 2 years ago. I havn't tried online or split screen yet, but my brother borrowed it a couple weeks ago and played it alot with his friends (split screen), and he enjoyed it, he hated the first motorstorm lol. I've taken a few photos using the photo mode (there are at least 3 PS3 racing games i own that have the ability to take photos, hope its something most developers will continue to do), here are the best of them (mostly scenery, don't have many action shots at the moment), i will get some better ones next time i play the game: Edited January 10, 2009 by Skyline_Mad Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You run them on AAA batteries lmao. Still I have to play splitscreen... buut anyway, ranked up to 7 and the races are getting harder and harder... I have 2 PS3 games that are in 1080p (although my TV only goes up to 1080i), Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Wipeout HD, they are the only games i know about that are in full HD (other than PSN games like you said). Panz Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The wreck limit races do suck. Half the time it's idiot (yet awesome) AI coming out of nowhere and ruining your limit. It is pretty great. It has varied tracks and everything. Elimination races bug me, too, when you completely screw up and crash at the worst personal time...usually at the last few seconds left of elimination. As for tortoise, not sure if I have it, but you could always try just redoing one of the first races since they're usually pretty easy and get by without using boost. I always have the urge to boost >_> The wreck limits are nothing, it's the speed races you unlock by doing a race under the time limit that really pisses me off. Nearing the end of the game, you have to do it perfectly in order to come under the limit of 15 seconds to spare. (That's if you're going for all golds like I did) Look forward to that And also look forward to the elimination race you have to do in Sugar Rush with a mud plugger lol. And no, I've not got that trophy either, but I remember seeing it and chuckling to myself that it would probably be impossible. You could always play the first track (therefore the easiest) and you might have a good chance. And Panz, I haven't tried the online yet either, how is it if you've played? JostVice Posted January 13, 2009 Author Share Posted January 13, 2009 Eliminations race and crash limit is ok... but yep, the timed races are pretty hard, on the last levels too, and the speed challenges are harder. I ranked up to level 8 and got some nice vehicles, I don't think I will beat it at all, so i'm now going for the trophies to get more vehicles. I heard the school bus is for winning all the eliminations challengues. I doubt I will get the big quarry truck, as you have to get the 'get the other 49 trophies' trophy This is my last vehicle, got it when I won 3 ranked online races all in a streak: Its beautiful, drives pretty sweet. I like also the hot rod and the old vehicle from the 40-50's, but it drives a bit hard. I need to get that gold medal on the 4x4 challenge for elimination, I tired doing it with the Atlas pacificier (the hummer H1) but I got Silver... anyone suggests a vehicle? Also, the track The edge is awesome... but... wow, you screw something up and you're up back to 11th or around, For who asked about online, its allright. everyone plays OK and its pretty fun, I didn't get with any stupid kid or similar.. yet. The sugar rush last one on level 8 was kinda hard, but got to it with some lucks and tips! now i'm looking forward into winning 50 online ranked matches and playing 250 races in overall, to win other vehicles.
