lolindirisilra
Memory Usage Drop XP into Vista I formatted my computer from XP SP3 into VISTA 32Bit SP1 and i want to play GTA IV. The problem is before in XP i have like 400-500 MB Memory Usage (In Graphic Option), and now in Vista I only got 238 MB !! which only can run the game in the most lowest possible settings !! 800x600 with all the density and distance set to 0 or 1 !! what went wrong ?? Useful Info: My Spec Core 2 Duo 3 Ghz, GeForce 8500 GT, Memory 2 GB. Both in XP and VISTA i've install the latest stable official driver which is 178.24. I don't have many background processes. Not Useful Info : I'm getting frustated!! Before i got trouble on making my generic controller into xbox controller in the other thread. Then after this install, i lose my previous save game. I CUT and copied the savegame into vista gta4 save folder but then it said 'error hard disk something' when loading the game. and now, i have trouble with memory usage. please help me.. anus
GeForce 8500 GT There's your problem. Your card won't be able to handle anything above the lowest settings, and even at the lowest setting it'll lag. So, upgrade your graphics card. The drivers you have are also way too old for this game. Download 185.20.
maceo242k1
what went wrong ?? gee, I dunno... you installed Vista, maybe? Vista is not to blame for all these retards who think that xp and vista should have the same performance on similar hardware. Its like making the jump from 3.1 to 95, or 95 to 98, or 98 to xp. The base requirements will go up as the os becomes more complicated. Why does no one understand it? Reading up on the system requirements for gaming on vista, ignoring them, and using pretty much the base memory allowed to do anything on vista, yet alone a poorly optimised memory hog of a game, is just plain foolish. Th3 ProphetMan
Maybe if you try disabling windows vista aero it helps. or try the no restrictions command and see if you can play like before with similar fps, because maybe its just detecting the memory wrong but still its there available.
