FlipWillie
They are not gonna release a patch anytime soon, give some some time ffs. They screwed up big time once, every company does. Don't be so hopeful. I wouldn't be surprised if they never even release a second patch. They only patched GTA SA up to 2.0 and even then it didn't work properly. Remember, only one percent of users are experiencing technical difficulties according to Kevin Hoare of Rockstar -- IGN GTA IV technical difficulties. So don't be so selfish. I mean is it really their fault that they can't figure out how to program a game? Nah. Face it, not too many people care about PC gaming anymore. DRMetzger
Then why would Toronto be willing to provide temporary fixes mentioning "untill a more permanent solution is found"? Sounds like they are working on a patch to me, and beyond that the game has only been out 5 weeks and has been patched already, people need to calm down. What developers have busted out 2 patches in that time?

What developers have busted out 2 patches in that time? So true! So many people also miss the fact, that two of these 5 weeks were christmas holidays. Kurgen
the game has only been out 5 weeks and has been patched already, people need to calm down. ...er, yes, and that "patch" managed to successfully bork the game for a large number of people. Why on earth are you people still trying to defend this? Ah! My mistake... it didn't affect you, so all is cool in Rockstarland, yes? People will doubtless "calm down" when they can finally play this game they've had installed for over a month.

What developers have busted out 2 patches in that time? Yes, that is true. We can be hopeful. I truly hope they fix the problem, and they may for all I know. On the other hand, how many other developers have needed to bust out two patches in the first 5 weeks? Most big-name PC games work decently when they are first released, and seeing that Rockstar is one of the most successful game publishers, they could have done a better job. In all honesty, Rockstar doesn't have the greatest programming track record. GTA SA was very buggy, and never worked properly for me. The sad thing is, I am still willing to suffer through their badly programmed games. Why? Because their games are freaking fun. In fact, this is probably why I am abnormally upset about it. From the small glimpses of the game that I can see, I can tell it is probably quite good. Anyway, I am just going to have to wait I guess. Either they will fix it, or they wont. DRMetzger
Lost count of number of patches on any DICE games, that count? I can't think of too many PC games that needed less than 2 patches for that matter, if any..... Acctually most games recently seemed to have needed a few patches to work properly, at least for me World at War, Fallout 3 and Stalker Clear Sky were quite a mess even after first patch or two. Also Kurgen if someone acctually mentions their problem rather than pissing and moaning I have provided suggestions that have worked for me to get the game going, as it took me a while too but if they are just going to complain of "diversified errors" and curse out rockstar than yes I'll defend them. Though most of the problems I had stemmed from my system not the game. And if you want to complain about the release state you might want to blame the publisher for wanting to sell it before the holidays rather than finish up the port properly but I suppose it is Rockstar Toronto's fault that that happened too eh? Blame the publisher? Who gives a fck whether they were responsible for a premature release?!? Aren't Rockstar their own bosses? Isn't this a Rockstar product? The game is blatantly unoptimised, and is pretty much a dictionary definitive example of "incomplete". Try to avoid steering the discussion down a strawman-route in future, when you clearly have no argument.
DRMetzger
Take2 is and has been their publisher...... they are a "Take2Company" Also that was more of an afterthought, the previous part, in response to you that you didn't comment on was the point I was trying to make....... talking about steering the discussion..... Kurgen
Irrelevant. Again, you're creating a strawman argument in pursuing my use of the word "Rockstar" instead of the real issue; the game, and its current state. The game is borked, for a large number of people. It needs fixed. It doesn't matter one single solitary damn who is responsible, it just needs fixed.

Haha, well, I suppose it depends on how you define need. I guess I can play GTA IV for about 10 minutes, if that qualifies as playing. Most patches simply fix small problems in the game. A memory leak is not a small problem. I simply cannot play the game for more than 10 minutes in its present state... Well, I can play the game, but let me tell you, invisible town isn't that much fun. I will give you the benefit of the doubt with "World at War, Fallout 3, and Stalker Clear Sky," as I haven't played them; however, 95% of the games I have bought did not need patches to play (This is excluding old dos and win95 games that simply don't want to run in XP). And for the record, I have mentioned my problem, and have not found a "good" solution to the problem. My thread As far as releasing before the holidays goes, I would have rather the game come out six months later and worked (I am still waiting patiently for Duke Nukem Forever). Either way, I didn't get to play it over Christmas break. Glad for those who did I guess (But not really cause I am selfish). Hey, all I want is for the game to work. Once they fix it I will be perfectly satisfied, and I will retract all my statements against Rockstar.

It just seems like people are thinking that a patch could be made in 24 hours or something, personally I'd rather have the patch tested to make sure it doesn't raise another handfull of issues as rushed patches often do. I wasn't trying to disregard peoples' problems or the release state of the game. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding.
