Braindawg
So after A firend formated my PC, my Pc starts lagging whenever I run a decent looking game. I have Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Insurgency on my Steam account. They all lag, aspecially Insurgency and HL2:Ep 2. Thease are my specs: OS: Windows PX Service Pack 2 RAM: 1.5GB RAM Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1050 Series DirectX: 9.0c Those specs pass the recomended specs to run Half-Life 2. But it still lags! why? Are there any programs that would improve gameplay and stop this annoying lag? Thanks in advance.
SynTerro
What settings do you run HL2 on Do you have the latest video card drivers? If not here they are http://ati.amd.com/support/radeonx-xp.html
Braindawg
Yes I have upates my video drive. Thease are my settings: Here! Resolution: 800x600 Though it doesnt matter... At the pause screen, and when I look down it's fine. It runs Tomb Raider: Anniversary at about 25 FPS
anus
The X0150 isn't exactly a gaming card, even for games like HL2. Try reducing the settings to their bare minimum and see how much FPS you get, then increase the settings one by one until the game becomes unplayable. Braindawg
It's playable. I managed to get to the part where the rebels fix your ar in Ep 2. It's not a poiler cause it's just a car It lags less at the part where Gman talks to you near Alyx. before the format Gman had to A.I and there was no voice... it lagged as hell... I also forgot to mention that my CPU is an Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz wiith 5.00GHz preformance!
anus
There's no way your P4 is running at 5GHz unless you overclocked it on LN2 or something. Anyway, I'm pretty sure its your video card. Your video card is made with stuff like office applications and internet browsing in mind rather than gaming. Upgrade your video card and you'll get better performance. The lagging seems to be occuring at graphics intensive areas and your card just can't cope with the game in these areas. But you might as well build a whole new PC if you're upgrading the video card as that P4 just doesn't cut it for today's games any more.
Braindawg
Thanks. I'll buy a new video card pretty soon.
anus
Might as well build a new PC man. Won't cost much to go all out and get a nice quad core system.
SmellyJelly
It lags less at the part where Gman talks to you near Alyx. before the format Gman had to A.I and there was no voice... it lagged as hell...I also forgot to mention that my CPU is an Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz wiith 5.00GHz preformance! I'm almost certain that the lack of voice problem occurs if you pirate the game. Just I thought I'd mention that.
