It's the cheapest mobile quad available, unless you get a desktop replacement notebook with support for LGA775 (desktop) processors, which are not really all that much of "laptops" when you factor in the heat and power consumption. They are more like mobile desktops. Ideally, the notebook you get will also support overclocking. Also make sure it has a dedicated video card with GDDR3 or GDDR5, with at least 256MB video memory, but preferably 512MB or more for GTA IV. Note that this is not the same as "DDR3" and "DDR2" system RAM, although low-end video cards can come with DDR2. Will probably run you in the range of $1400-2500, depending on the location, brand, and model. Examples: - Acer Aspire 8930G-7665, 18.4" notebook with a 9700M GT for ~$1800. - Sager NP5797, 17" notebook with a 1GB 9800M GTX runs about $2000-2500. I'm using core 2 quad q6600 stock and 8800gts 320mb and my game lags like hell, average fps not up to 25, so u can imagine that. Actually, graphic cards isn't too much important for this game, I'm from Malaysia and I got a friend who plays the game without too much lagging on a single 9500GT! (specs in sig) I saw people with desktop quads and GTX 280s who can't even get 17FPS, or something like that. But surely if you want a laptop, you'd have to spend more than $2000. The Quad CPU and a decent GPU. edit: A friend of mine has the Sager NP5797. With the QX9300 @ 2.53GHz and the nVidia 9800m GTX 1GB. I like being able to go sit downstairs, watch tv, take my laptop to a friends house, and still be able to play high quality games such as crysis warhead, left 4 dead ect. GTA IV doesnt run great for me, I average around 19fps outdoors, I only have a dell xps m1530, it may be nearly the highest spec'd one but it only cost me £429, and yes... I saved a hell of alot of money ! People who have desktops pc's which cost thousands and thousands of pounds are seriously wasting there money ! People who complain about being able to play this game at 'only 40fps max' are complete and utter assholes ! At that framerate you can play the game ! so stop freakin complaining and play the game ! ------------------------------ Back to the question, just get a laptop with a good amount of ram, preferbly 512mb + for graphics memory and try and get a Q9000 processor. To play GTA 4 that some guys having problems with rigs like this E8400, 4gb DDR2 and GTX280 (im talking about consistante frame rate) why do you think laptop is wright choice? First: He will spend 3x much money to have stable frame rate on maybe 1024 resolution with maybe medium details (a game looks like "oh nothing special" even on 1600x1200 with max setings).... Second: that kind of laptop weights around what? 7-8 pounds, batery life? what? 20min?..... So where is logic there? Laptops are not for gaming (maybe older games like CoD2 and so) specialy not for GTA 4 (maybe somewhere in the future after 5-6 patches)... EPIC FAIL!!! I contacted him that Masternadim. He didnt use that 180 drivers. He uses the 179 drivers for notebooks and he get 25-30FPS. Without the drivers, the game laggs. To waste that kind of money when you can have a good rig to play on max settings and the smaller laptop that is TRANSPORTABLE (but you cant play GTA4) and good with older games.... That or laptop that cost 3x more, heavy like almost 8 pounds, batery life of one hour, cant keep it with you unless you have a car, and not even be able to play at native resolution without lagg (GTA 4 ofcourse) All facts mr. GTA_XP.... I have at home Toshiba P200-11L laptop 17" and i now how much is FU... hard to cary that sh*t around.... Even with 1200 euros you can buy a great gaming rig and smaller laptop....
