SecuRom Launcher has stopped working...(Windows 7)

I've been running GTA IV on Windows 7 Build 7000 successfully for over a week. A lot faster, and more stable than I'd ever experienced on XP or even Vista before. Now the problem isn't really with the game itself, but with SecuRom Launcher. As soon as I try to launch, I get an error message, "SecuRom Launcher has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution.". I have a retail copy, no cracks. I used xLiveWrapper, but after that it was still running well, So I don't think that'd be the source of the problem.

Anybody experienced something similar? Please help, if you can!

Thanks a lot,

MT

mind posting how you got it running in win7, having trouble sad.gif

Sure thing, man! colgate.gif

So 1st, installation:

Install RGSC normally, it doesn't prompt for any OS version problems. Then explore GTA IV DVD, and find Setup.exe in the GTA IV folder. Right-click, then set compatibility mode to XP SP2. It will set up normally.

2nd, Running the game:

Install patch 1.0.1.0. retail (GTA 4 1.0.1.0. Patch from GTAInside.com), not from Live, then find LaunchGTAIV.exe in the root folder. Right-click, then set comp. mode to Windows 2000.

This way it won't bug you for XP SP3, or Vista SP1, just starts up normally.

Good Luck!

Please report back!

Thx,

MT

Seems I could get it working again. Even though it's original, I have to use a SecuROM bypasser... moto_whistle.gif I can't help it. Not my fault, that it stopped working.. bored.gif Only strange thing is, that it went wrong suddently. Before yesterday evening, it worked fine. I installed nothing before the happening..maybe the aliens did something, while I was in the kitchen... alien.giftounge.gif

Oh do f*ck off.

To OP, You don't need to run securom if you don't want to look around on google, you still require the original disc an everything just a securom bypass, which in turn keeps baby Jeebus happy too.

Enter Google Securom Bypass GTA 4. Download it with torrent, then exctract to root folder (will overwrite LaunchGTAIV.exe, so make a backup). Then disable Windows 2000 compatibilty, and start it. Works fine for me...again! colgate.gif

I'm surprised that there is another one who has resort to use bypasser. :|

well, and I also not see any admin editing any responses. Cool.

I have the same problem even though I have the original GTA IV disc. After some time of playing, it was about 2 weeks, it has stopped working. I tried to run the game several times, and it started. But now, I can not open the game at all. I think that that is some problem with Windows 7. sad.gif
