ItWasntMe
As the title suggests, this is about problems I am having converting video into PSP compatible format (.mp4). Ages ago I used to use AVS video converter, but recently that has stopped working properly and crashes my computer. I have since been trying PSP Video Converter 9 which has worked, but the audio is stupidly out of sync. I then purchased ImToo PSP Video Converter, and that is even worse. It doesn't even begin to convert the file, yet the program tells me it has, and outputs a useless 300k .mp4 file. Please can anyone help me shed some light on why ImTOO isn't working at all, and what programs you use to convert video files for playback on the PSP. NB:- The file I am trying to convert at the moment is a .m2ts file copied from my PS3 which was recorded on PlayTV. As far as I am aware, PlayTV recordings are DRM free meaning this shouldn't be a problem? Help me! Thanks in advance.
ItWasntMe
Sorry to DP, but I have tried the following software: PSP Video 9 - Worked but audio sync was about 1 second out. PSPWare - Didn't convert the file, didn't even recognise it. iSkysoft - Recognised and converted, but audio sync is about half a second out by the end of the program. Can anyone help with these audio sync issues or shed any light on this as it's driving me up the f**king wall!?
Toadyd
There is a guide here which supposedly offers a solution using a program called Wondershare Another option would be to try the 'Media Manager Pro' by Sony - http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/mm4psp it's less than £10 and m2ts is Sony high definition video file, and a PSP is a Sony device... Although it is a bit sh*tty they're charging for software which looks like it should come bundled with the PSP.
Drag_Drift
Try Total Video Converter. It already has a built in 'any media file' to PSP videos setting, and you can tweak it too. It's great, but it ain't free.
ItWasntMe
Thanks toady, I am converting with WonderShare FreeTrial now, and see how it goes, I'll let you know. It uses the same framework as another piece of software I came across, iSkySoft, so I am a little scepticle as this couldn't sync the audio right, which is now the major problem I am having. On a half hour program, it ends up about half a second out using iSkySoft. Also, I have Media Manager 3.0 *Free, which just allows you to sync content and not convert. I am really looking for concrete proof somewhere that someone has recorded a program on their PS3, put it on the memory stick, put it on their pc and then converted the file perfectly for playback on the PS3. @ Drag-Drfit: Have you any experience of using the program and changing the audio sync properties on it? This is now a key feature which I seem to need as the files are converting with terrible audio sync. Thanks for the replies.
ItWasntMe
Update: Wondershare, on lowest settings, managed to convert the file from 800MB to 70MB, which is the best compression I've seen yet, but it is still out of sync by about half a second... If I do this for films and such it will be even further out. I have also e-mailed Sony to find out the ins and outs of this Media Manager PRO software. Whats the bet they spin me some BS that it will do everything I ever dreamed of... Then take my money and not work? You're right too, it should so come bundled with the PSP and also be free, oh well. Anybody else know how to sort out audio sync issues with .m2ts files??!?!?! I can't be the first person to try this and get this problem!?!? (Yes I know its not a dedicated PSP/PS3 forum, but it is a very helpful forum! ).
ItWasntMe
Total Video Converter also failed. It seems its called 'demuxing' and I need a converter with that in built! Ho hum...
cold fusion 33
Any option of converting that video to, say, WMV and then converting it to PSP? I wonder if the converter can't handle turning a High Definition file into a format that is compatible with the PSP... And I have never even heard of m2ts. file's, so I don't know, maybe the support for them isn't too good . Good luck, CF33
anus
Why not try converting with 'SUPER'. Its the best free video converter I've ever known. SUPER.
ItWasntMe
@ Fusion, thats not a bad call indeed. I will try today to convert it to .avi or something, then go down to the .mp4 for PSP. A .m2ts file is a raw HD video file that is mainly used with Sony HD Video cameras and the like. You would have thought that Media Manager PRO could handle it, but so far I have had little positive feedback from Sony Support. @ Warlord, I have been trying it using a work colleague's PC and it keeps crashing inexplicably. I'll download a new copy and try that. Thanks for all comments, if anyone has any other ideas let me know! Thanks.
ItWasntMe
Why not try converting with 'SUPER'. Its the best free video converter I've ever known. Tried. Won't convert the file longer than 0.49 seconds... Have you had any experience of this?
anus
No i don't have any experience in convertin PSP videos as I don't have a PSP, but I have used SUPER for other things in the past and it has worked perfectly for me, every time. Btw, does this happen on all the videos you try converting or only on one? Why not try messing about with the quality settings in SUPER? May fix your problem. Cursed
Or if you wanted to be able to download Youtube videos, you could simply use Youtube Downloader, which comes with a built-in converter.
