Eroneouse
Since installing GTA4 on my PC my DVD drive randomly disappears from both the my computer area and also from the device manager area now this particular bug I know 100% is down to SecuROM. Also my CPU keeps spiking to 46% usage with all non essential background processes shut down no games running and no web sites or browsers open, this CPU spiking has only started happening since I installed GTA4 and I am wondering if others are getting this same thing within their systems and also if anyone knows for sure that this is also SecuROM related. copperwire93
at least that drm doesn't harm my dvd drive, why don't they just do like ubisoft did to prince of persia, no drm hooray. To OP, might want to use SecuROM bypasser Edited January 8, 2009 by copperwire93
Eroneouse
What is securom bypasser, I know there are tools to remove securom from a system but then the games it comes bundled with stop working once its removed does this bypasser allow the games to keep on working fully but without securom ? copperwire93
All right then, NO DRM for future PC games, everyone agree? Back on topic, i'm using SecuROM bypasser until now, still doesn't experience any conflict. But please do some research first it could do more trouble if you messed up. PS: I never thought Starforce will do that, damn why we need DRM anyway. Edited January 8, 2009 by copperwire93
Eroneouse
All right then, NO DRM for future PC games, everyone agree? Back on topic, i'm using SecuROM bypasser until now, still doesn't experience any conflict. But please do some research first it could do more trouble if you messed up. PS: I never thought Starforce will do that, damn why we need DRM anyway. Assuming like myself you bought a copy of the game from a store then " WE " do not need anti piracy software. The company who provide the software obviously think that SecuROM helps stop piracy or something silly when in actual fact it does nothing of the kind However said company can go to its shareholders/partners/financial contributors and say hey buddy all is fine were protected. Spore comes bundled with SecuROM and is the most copied game ever or something, way to go anti piracy. I actually bought Spore same as with GTA4 but I uninstalled Spore and removed SecuROM as it caused problem after problem with Drives refuseing to work or disappearing from my system and games and media programs suddenly stopping working because SecuROM objected to them in some way or I had mounted software on my drive or something and it looks like GTA4 is going to start doing the same things as Spore did based on my DvD drive randomly disappearing from the my computer area and also from device manager area. I contacted SecuROM support and their response basically boiled down to " Tough luck buddy prove securom is at fault and we will help you but we can prove its not securom so go swivel on a big pointy stick. " Obviously I paraphrase somewhat as that was not their exact reply but its a reasonable interpretation. SecuROM only hurts the end consumer not the pirates Ohh sry /rantoff. craig3000
WHATS THE POINT having any DRM at the moment when it simply doesn't work if someone wants to use the game they will find a way, they might reply well it stops less informed people from using illegal copies etc but well informed people would not now how to get hold of games for free anyway DRM is stupid, tbh i dont care having it but would prefer not to as obviously it doesnt work eg. you cant say DRM stops 20% of people and not the other 80% because that shows it dont work ALL i can say to devlopers is dont piss about making half ass attempts either make one yourself, don't bother, wait for someone else to make one or make a game that works and will sell well cough cough R*

For clues on how to get around this use Google Everyone has their favourite utility Doesn't make sense to use an app that can f*ck your PC up in all sorts of weird ways Of course this is just an opinion Really SecuROM only hampers the honest legitimate user, all the pirates cracked this sh*t within a day of the games release. Ever so subtle me.

Braindead Management Team: "We have copy protection software on our game releases there there.. don't worry precious.. it's ok.. it's all better now.. buy more shares"
LSD T
Absolutely Nova, whenever I have had the misfortune to make presentations to upper management and MDs of various customers, they all talk about network security like there actually is such a thing, unaware that any security put in place can be hacked by some genius 12 year old of China in a minute. Thing is they pays lots of dough so that lifes troubles and hurdles should never meet them face to face, and if it does, they just delude themselves by thinking of a happy place.
