7.1 Surround Sound via Optical Out

Hey guys,

 

I was wondering if anyone plays GTA IV using a 7.1 soundcard hooked up to an amplifier via an Optic Cable and if so, does it work?

 

And if it doesn't, do you think GTA IV just play it in 5.1?

 

I've searched the forum for 7.1 setups but could only find topics on 5.1 setups.
