blakefast87
I can tell you that SP3 is not necessary as I have played GTA IV without it. You can bypass it by doing a very very simple registry tweak. regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows open 'CSDVersion' and type in '300' instead of '200' restart your computer ^this will work, but its probably a good idea to install SP3 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/390973-is-sp3-really-necessary/#findComment-1058857683 Share on other sites
Mouta
i isntalled the update for sp3. didnt knew about the twek but wasnt gonna do it anyways. it was giving me an error before instaling it wich desapeared after it was installed. with the tweak i dunno if it will improve anything other than that error. blakefast87
I've played GTA IV on XP with SP2 using the tweak. The tweak does nothing more than trick windows into thinking that SP3 is installed. I reckon I got slightly better performance on SP3 - but not THAT much better. Unfortunately I didn't get a benchmark of a before and after - I was too eager to get on with the game hehe Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/390973-is-sp3-really-necessary/#findComment-1058857702 Share on other sites
