Fozzy Fozborne
What kind of graphics cards are those? They look like 280/260GTX's but one can never be certain. I've got a nice Arctic Cooling heatsink fan on my 5000 x2, but there is something going on that it crashes if it's above 3.0GHz (15x multiplier). More voltage doesn't seem to help and it never goes above 40 degrees C. Beyond that, my dual 9600GT's are using their stock coolers. This includes my ridiculously loud PNY card which doesn't have a dynamic fan and instead runs at full speed.

Picolini
I've got all air cooling on my set up, how the PC came. There's a front and rear fan on in the, they're at least 92mm, if not 120mm. I don't know for sure which size... Stock HSF on the CPU and stock cooling on the GPU as well. I actually just opened up my PC and cleaned the fans, HSF, and rearranged the wires and HDDs to get a better, less obtrusive and obstructing to air flow. Took a while, but the PC is damn quiet, hopefully it'll run cooler, although I probably won't notice anything as it's been running just fine. Seriously though, it's about half as loud, almost inaudible. Before... After... I know my wires could be managed better, but I didn't want to spend all day, and I lacked any wire casings and zip ties.

Drag_Drift
I use a cryotech liquid cooled suspension. I can't take pics cos I'm at college right now, but I'll take some when I go home to the province.
Picolini
Thanks toxic Well... never thought cooling to be a problem, but I think it's just become one. Either that or my card might be a little f*cked. This is kind of off topic, but we don't get much talk around here so I don't think it'll hurt. While cleaning my PC earlier, as I said, I accidentally sprayed Windex in it (grabbed it instead of the air can!), right on top of my new 4850. That's right. Right on it. Of course there was no power to it, all cables unplugged and everything, but still, it's no good! I dabbed it off with a paper towel then blew on it with the air can for a little bit. PC started up fine, no problems for a while. I go to convert a video file... BOOM. PC just shuts off. No warning, just turns off. I had trouble getting the HSF back on and found one clip was loose, so I assumed it was just the CPU overheating due to poor contact with the HSF. I did touch the GPU heat sink and it felt really hot though. Start the PC up... look at some stats, the CPU had been running at 80*C but now it's back down to 45*C at idle/regular use. Buuuut, my 4850 seems to be sitting at about 75*C. I know they run hotter than CPUs, but I'm a little worried. I started messing with the fan controls in Catalyst, and nearly sh*t myself when I set it to 75% and hit apply, and the fan got insanely loud. At this point my main monitor started wiggling/waving, so I turned off the second monitor and put the fan to 50%. Within a minute or two the temp dropped considerably and the waviness stopped. So I turned on second monitor on and began messing with the Auto-tune option. Let that go for a while, and with the temp at about 80*C I got bored and hit cancel. Set the fan speed to 50% to cool it down quickly... then BOOM. Both monitors showed up a black-scan line type screen. I immediately shut off my computer and restarted it. Let the fan stay at 50% to cool it down, now as I'm typing this it's climbed its way back up to 73% and seems to be staying there with the fan on Auto, running around 7-10% speed. I did have the wavy problem the day I bought the card but I replaced the VGA/DVI converter and it went away. Never had it sh*t out on me and shoot up a black screen, or have my PC just completely shut off. And with the GPU running so hot I'm thinking that could be the problem... if any problems persist I'll try and return the card for a new one and hope they can't figure out a few drops of Windex got on it! Go figure though, no problems with it until I open it up and TRY to make everything run cooler...

I've had Graphics Cards run past 100c in games without any ill effects, most cards, especially HD48x0's, can take a LOT of heat. I have 120mm fans all around except on my RAM, which has a 80mm and I have a Xigmatech S1283 with the fan mounted on the back with a few empty 120mm fan casings to direct the air, as well as a Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev 2 on my 9600GT, Running without a fan. okei
Does anybody know of any decent case fans? (Standard size) ATM I've got stock ones, and I've heard that any case fan you purchase is better than a default fan. I don't think I would be able to fit in watercooling (I'm not buying a new case for that LOL) and I don't have a clue how to fit watercooling. I would also like to know if there are any decent PCI fans.
Picolini
hi m8 ok my mates 8800gtx can hit past 95c ok now for the fliud you spilt on the card what is Windex soz m8 i from the uk whats it made of It's a window cleaner, the ingredients are here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windex#Ingredients Basically alcohols and water. I was only worried about the temperature because the wavy screen thing stopped right away when the card cooled down, but I guess it could have been coincidence, because the card got back up to 70-80*C last night, idling around 75*C with out any problem. Seems to be doing alright so far. I would also like to know if there are any decent PCI fans. Me too. Anyone know?
toxic 1
ok fans you need to know what size thay are 80mm 120mm or what ever then you need to decide how mush noise you can take the more powerfull the fan the more noise its up to you to deside how mush noise that you can take. try and strike a ballence of power and noise has long has its wos dryed out before runing it will be fine i sin your post so you did that so it will be fine you coud get a after market heatsink for you video card if you are scared of the temps pci fans links http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/p...&cat=103&page=1 http://www.overclock.co.uk/product/Antec-V...cooler_932.html http://www.overclock.co.uk/product/Akasa-B...lower_7776.html Edited January 8, 2009 by toxic
