Spider-Vice
A suggestion? Why don't you activate the fast reply? I mean, the flood control is the same so it wouldn't be abused and it would be easier to post. What do you think? The-King
The answer has and always will be no. I know this because numerous members before you have advocated this and all were told the same thing, it would encourage spamming, even with flood control, if someone might spam it would only make it easier for them to do so. Besides, how hard is it to click the reply button when you have something to add to a topic, if your that lazy you probably shouldn't be using forums in the first place. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
Rebel
We do have the fast reply button working. But only for the certain area's. I agree with King, even with the flood control its still going to make a lot of people want to spam. And it takes about 1/2 extra seconds to press the Add Reply button. Now, that's hardly wasting your time is it?
iYateszy
Thats just lazyness to the extreme, all you have to do is press the damn reply button and enter your message.
Pat
The Fast Reply button, as RebelG has mentioned, is available in certain areas of the forum. I have access to one of these areas, and have used the Fast Reply button a few times. In all honesty, it's less convinient than the regular reply button. Rhoda
As already stated, the regular reply option means spammers think twice about posting a spur of the moment idiotic scrawl, not to mention there's a degree of effort enough for people who actually have something meaningful to say. And I agree with it being less convenient. Most of the times that I used the Fast Reply option, I ended up clicking the 'Show smilies popup window' or the 'More Options' buttons which takes up more time than if I just hit 'Add Reply' instead. And I believe the OP is just basing his suggestions on some other forum he has been on. At GTAF, you need to take into account the fact that we have more number of members than all the other forums combined that the OP has visited. Mark
Jeez, none of you need fast reply anyway, it's not as if you post enough. I have it everywhere....and never used it. It's kinda pointless.
SWEETSAPRIK
I wouldn't hate this. I mean the OP is right about it being redundant as long as the flood control is set as it is. That, and the flood control doesn't just make you wait to post, it makes you wait to even start typing a post, which is mildly annoying. I mean it's obviously not necessary, and I know it probably won't be enabled, but it would be nice to be able to at least start typing a post that wouldn't be submitted until long after the limit anyway. Mainland Marauder
That, and the flood control doesn't just make you wait to post, it makes you wait to even start typing a post, which is mildly annoying. This is the only thing that even remotely bothers me about the flood control as it is, so on that level, I could support this. Not a biggie though. If it's part of the future upgrade, then great. Girish
Being able to start typing a post before the flood limit expires is productive only if you're typing out a big post (which hopefully makes sense). What I do is just type it out in Notepad and then copy it over to the post text field after the flood limit expires.

Jack_Knife
I'm sorry, but how on Earth is fast reply less convenient than the normal reply page? You have to load a whole other page, that's already less convenient. I'd like fast reply to be forums-wide, but then again, who cares. "You can play faster than Al Di Meola and do it with only one pinky, but if you're not listening to what is going on around you, you might as well just shut up" isn't your croth suppose to be erecting when you have an orgasm? It's inconvenient if you have to use smileys or hyperlinks or any formatting codes for that matter. You then have to type out the BB codes yourself or click on the 'More Options' button, in which case, you'd rather just hit 'Add reply' instead. Also, as has been said before, with the amount of members we have, it'd just act as a motivational factor for spammers to spam even more.
