ron123
I continued to search for performance improvements and I just may caught one really fat golden fish. It gave me extreme boost in the MIN fps (won't improve the benchmark). You may already been using it,-that is why I wrote "maybe" No one mentioned it in the forum- so I will be the first to do it. No games with you this time Instruction: Go to control penal, open "NVIDIA nView destop manager" (in "destop management),if you see the word "disable", you should kiss my feet and press it. If you already disabled it, you should told me about it before. So press "disable" to diable it features, then just load narmally (as you did before) GTA IV, drive a car for 30-50 sec and notice the smoothness of your drive. Now tell me if it works for you. FadewoodArts
Didn't work for me either, let me tell you I'm pretty sure I am going to just take the good ol' GTA 4 dvd out of my drive, put it in its case, and I will see you guys a few months from now while I play some other games that run nicely. Rockstar needs to get on the f'n ball. Hopefully since I payed the grand total of $50 for the game, in a few months I hope the game has some more patches. Later dudes. Like the way you played it before? I changed it even doring the game, maybe it's becouse of my Win xp (compare my spec in sig). The change was great for me. I will post a movie in this thread, if one or two of you will say it.
ron123
I am really sorry for this thread, Now when I try it and film it- I don`t see the diffrence- now they both seem to me smooth. I restarted now the game and win, I tried and noticed the big change in a 30-50 min gameplay. I did many changes while playing, I am sure in 100% that something gave extreme boost, in the benchmark wasn't any different, I am sorry, I posted it too fast, I should do additional tests and test the difference many times after rebooting the pc. I just know that with something today I was able to play perfectly in 1920x1200 max settings for 10 min, then I closed my computer, Again I am really sorry, you may close this thread,

ron123
Stop posting this bs dude, its awful again, it's the first time that I post something that doesn't work, all my other posted twickes works and I proved it in benchnarks and videos, sorry, again. I steel can post my new video, the gameplays in full settings are too fast to notice some difference. I will test and explain my mistake (I am not sure yet that this is a total mistake). bidji
heh, it happens. besides, disabling nview desktop manager can only improve performance, theoretically that is... and it'd probably not be a huge improvement, might save you a few megabytes of RAM and some cpu cycles here and there... never a bad thing, is it? I wouldn't notice a difference, personally, since I always disable services/programs I think are useless, a desktop manager being one of them. Here's a theory on how to tweak those settings: 1. Disable nview in Nvidia Desktop Manager 2. Have someone close to you (or if no one around, yourself) smack you hard upside the head for posting something so ludicrous and wasteful of other's time. ron123
To all the "haters": First I am sorry. Second: I think that I found the true reason for the fps boost. I tested the forcing of AA on GTA, I forgot to cancel it in the next tests, so when I disabled the "nview desktop manager" I coused to cancel the AA which gave me extra boost in fps, but won't improve the benchmark. The posted twick will boost fps only if you run nvidia's programs on bad settings that cost CPU usage. Again I am sorry for this thread. Note: I will test more twicks.
